From 1960 to 2007…Aretha Franklin ladies & gentlemen

If you were watching the Grammy’s you saw the legendary performance with Beyonce and Tina Turner from the future but now it seems Ms. B rubbed some people the wrong way when she introduced Tina Turner as the “Queen” when everyone knows Aretha is the only “Queen Of Soul” (insert sarcasm)…

Here’s what Beyonce said:

“…Lena Horne, Anita Baker, Diana Ross. Gladys, Janet and the beautiful melodies of Whitney. The legacy they have bestowed are simply irreplaceable. But there is one legend who has the essence of all of these things: the glamour, the soul, the passion, the strength, the talent. Ladies and gentleman…give it up for the Queen…”

Here’s what Aretha “THE QUEEN OF SOUL” Franklin (we don’t want any problems…) had to say:

“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé. However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway…”

And Beyonce probably thought the ladies of Destiny’s Child were catty… “B” you better get Moma Knowles for this one Aretha is an OG!!!

while i think they could have slid her name in there, i don’t think she should direct that at Beyonce, most of the time the stars don’t write that stuff.

Actually Beyonce also said Sarah Vaughn and Aretha Franklin. She gave Aretha her props.

Actually, I understand Aretha’s plight and you CAN’T just start disRESPECTing her because she stated what she DID! Those who DO show just as MUCH ignorance as they attribute to her! She IS the QUEEN musically speaking and it doesn’t matter what anyone says! Fact IS fact. And these silly references to situations that don’t even ‘apply’ to what was said and what the issue is are another statement of foolishness in my opinion! I believe it ‘wasn’t entirely Beyonce’s fault. And Aretha does TOO! It’s an ‘issue’ of RESPECT, and of politics, and as She said, a ‘cheap shot at controversy’ or something of the sort! TINA, tho’ I LOVE her, SHOULD’VE been referred to as ‘A QUEEN’ in her own right……. or something of the sort….or the QUEEN or the ‘ACID QUEEN’ of Rock, as she IS! To say ‘THE QUEEN’ *IS* a risky and radical statement…..esPECially when you HAD “THE QUEEN” in the audience! RESPECT y’all. Once THAT is gone, YOU are gone TOO! There is nothing to hold our legacy and our lives together either! Maybe THAT’S what the real problem IS! It AIN’T personal, and we should stop tryin’ to MAKE it so, and then respond with attacks that show our OWN ‘stupidity and foolishness’ of mindset! It is not about that! It seems that it has been totally overlooked that Aretha spoke LOVE FOR BEYONCE herSELF at the end of it all! It seems that all we seem to want to do is to dig out what can be negative and splash all over THAT! What does ‘THAT’ say about ‘US’ people? PLEASE!!!!!!

She used to be a dime!

If she’d taken care of herself, she’d still be one. She isnt aging badly, its just the extra weight.
