They’re Not Having Hip Hop [Jay-Z] In Glastonbury, UK!

The yearly Glastonbury Music Festival is about to be underway despite poor ticket sales for the concert which normally sells out in hours. But here’s the kicker – Oasis leadman Noel Gallagher is upset that Jay-Z has been added onto the bill and is blaming him for the concert not selling out saying, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it…If you break it then people ain’t gonna go…I’m sorry but Jay-Z No chance it’s wrong.”

Watch out back stage Noel…ask R. Kelly…

I love both artists but this has been blown WAAAAAAYYY out of proportion. Noel needs to be quiet. Jay needs to tear it down and then say I told you so.

I wish more hip hop fans would get stamps in their passports. Or, for that matter, be passport eligible. Glastonbury is not the proper venue for hip hop. Jay performing there is about as right as Snoop being at the CMAs. Let the wankers cross the pond have their rock n roll picnic their way.

snoop can go to the cma’s if he want but if he performed there say Deep Cover then it might be a problem

Hey, I don’t know this Noel guy, but this is marketing 101. First rule, know your customer/consumer. If the crowd at this yearly feastival is not a hip hop loving crowd, why invite a hip hop artist, no matter how great he is. I just went to the Jay and Mary concernt last night in LA and they killed it, but they were playing to there following.

Follow the math….say you have a 20,000 seat venue, You normally sell out and the customer is a country/rock/alternative crowd, bassically anything other than big fans of hip hop music and culture. So, you invite a huge hip hop act which pushes 50% of your faithfulls away. Now you have 10,000 tickets, but your new hot act only increases your crowd by 3,000. Well, there you have it…started at 20K, dropped to 10K, increased by 3K, net…only 13K tickets sold.
