LIVE From Madsion Square Garden…It’s Kanye West!!!

by admin on 05/14/2008 · 5 comments

So we went to the GLOW IN THE DARK tour last night at Madison Square Garden in NYC. While we were trying to find our $160.00 ticket seats (which were pretty good) – Lupe Fiasco was wrapping up his set performing “Superstar.” The first thing that got us about the show was the terrible sound quality. After seeing the Jay-Z & MJB tour in the same venue just a week ago which had SPECTACULAR sound – we were slightly confused.

When N.E.R.D. came out, we truly realized that Pharrell Williams is a true rock & roller. Nothing about his stage presence made reference to him being one of the best hip-hop producers at all. The crowd reaction was hot when they performed their hit single “Lap Dance,” but other than that it was OK.

Rihanna came out in all her tight leather glory, but we just couldn’t get over the sound quality. Her stage back drop was hot with laser lights and robotic dancers. Highlight of her set was bringing out Chris Brown for the remix to “Umbrella” then it was back to the BAR.

Kanye’s set opened very dramatically with him lying on what appeared to be a planet, and opened up his show with “Good Morning.” The stage was one big rainbow for Kanye’s set, and included lots of spaceship props – including a computer screen that Kanye spoke to. After about 15 minutes, it got kind of boring seeing Kanye jump from left to right amidst a flurry of colors.

Check out this exclusive audio of Kanye West’s set from last night’s Glow In The Dark concert performance.

DAMN!!! I went to the one in miami and sound quality was impressive it was better then the Mary and Jay concert. WHY couldnt Chris Brown Come out and do that remix in MIA? He was there on stage during N.E.R.D.’s performance of “Spaz” . It was a DAMN GOOD concert thou. Timbaland was in the building and gave a lil performance cuz his song “The Way I Are” came on in between stage changes.

I was at the show last night and can’t believe we saw the same thing. I saw Jay’s tour twice (in MIA and MSG) and without a DOUBT Kanye’s tour was more impressive from a technical standpoint. I also read tons of reviews about Kanye’s show and they all were GREAT in terms of sound and the artistic value of the show. I love Jay, don’t get me wrong, but Kanye’s show is comparable to big tours aoutside of hip-hop.
