One day after changing the name of his upcoming album Nas releases a slightly less controversial song than the last one (“Be A Nigg*r Too”) with a more “friendly beat”. Is it hot? Are you offended??? And who had “that” conversation with Nas to make him change the title?
“They say we N-I-double G-E-R
We are, much more but still we choose to ignore the obvious
Man, this history don’t acknowledge us we were scholars way before colleges.”

REAL HIP HOP
thats what we need.. some one to wake up the people.. so we can start moving forward in the right direction.. because.. u can walk in ur sleep… u can even talk in ur sleep… but if ur not awake u have no direction
Honestly its truly sad if it takes a rap song for people to wake up. Stop blaming everyone but yourself. There are things called libraries and the internet is a wonderful resource. Go learn your history man. It is truly plush with heritage and beautiful stories of people defying odds to become something. Cutting school ain’t the way to go. As a matter of fact before you twist your face up at my commentary……please read this….here is the link: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/16/white.valedictorian/index.html?iref=newssearch
still need Nas to wake us up?
I will truly be saddened if it take a rap song for “us” to wake up. I haven’t even listened to the song yet but by reading the comments I had to offer my two cents. Our history is full of beautiful stories of people defying odds and horrific tales of racism to do something monumental. I hate to say this but it seemed like when there was blatant racism and attacks of violence, black people went out and proved that it wouldn’t stop us. Now that things are toned down by far we have gotten complacent and succumbed to this travesty of a lifestyle called hip hop. Cutting school to smoke blunts and dream of becoming a rapper isn’t for everyone. If anyone is interested in a real wake up call check this link out. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/16/white.valedictorian/index.html?iref=newssearch
