BET Founder Bob Johnson Writes Letter Urging Obama to Pick Clinton

Bob, Bob, Bob…what’s happening mang….

Here’s what Robert “Bob” Johnson said about Barack Obama in January (as we reported):

” To me, as an African American, I am frankly insulted the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues — when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won’t say what he was doing, but he said it in his book — when they have been involved. That kind of campaign behavior would not be reasonable with me for a guy who says ‘I want to be a reasonable, likable, Sidney Poitier

Here’s what Bob said in a letter yesterday to James Clyburn (highest ranking African American in congress):

Dear Jim:

Now that you have endorsed Senator Obama as the Presidential Nominee of the Democratic Party; I, as a long-time supporter of Senator Clinton and of the Democratic Party, urge you to do everything possible to unify this party to win the Presidential election in November. For me and millions of other Democrats, I believe that the most important step that you can take now is to encourage the Congressional Black Caucus to urge Senator Obama to select Senator Hillary Clinton as his Vice Presidential running mate.

As a businessman I understand the vitally important role that a Democratic President can play in establishing programs and policies throughout the government that stimulate and support economic opportunities for African Americans. As African Americans we agree that the stakes in this election are far too high to take any chances that this party will not be unified from the top to the bottom in our effort to gain control of The White House.

You know as well as I the deep affection that millions of African Americans hold for both Senator Clinton and President Clinton. You also know that Hillary Clinton has been a long-term advocate for racial and gender equality, from her early days as a lawyer with the Children Defense Fund to her prominent leadership roles on these issues as First Lady and as Senator from New York. But most important, we need to have the certainty of winning; and, I believe, without question, that Barack Obama as President and Hillary Clinton as Vice President bring that certainty to the ticket.

Jim, as the highest ranking African American in Congress, I encourage you to follow your commitment to build a unified party by helping to make this a historic election of Senators Obama and Clinton who both have demonstrated that they have the courage and the ability to inspire and lead this nation to greatness today and for years in the future.

Warm regards,

Bob Johnson

Yes they both USE African-Americans or URBANS for their own advancements. I assume the picture of them was taken in a church? Good place for them…Bob talks about Obama in the neighborhood…what was Bob doing in the hood? Is it something to be proud of??? Was it being a good role model for young men in the neighborhood?

Bob Johnson needs to sit his stupid dumb azz down, not even all the money in the world can buy this shmuck a piece of common sense!

Hilary belittled Barack in so many ways, but he hardly ever slandered her on a personal level. Hilary’s fake azz has way to much pride, she’s very sneaky and untrustworthy. She has really showed her true colors throughout this entire campaign! I dont know if picking Hilary as his VP would be such a great idea. Also she has to much pride to even commend Barack on his win which she knew he been had under his belt long ago, TO MUCH DAMN PRIDE!

It’s called imposed leadership, they send a black man who is somewhat influential to destroy the black man who is winning. Remember the black panthers, Malcolm X, Dr. King and most recently Al Sharpton for the Sean Bell case. Yes I said it Al Sharpton and now this dick head Bob Johnson.

I won’t go as far as to call Bob a sellout. I will say that if the shoe was on the other foot, he wouldn’t be clamoring Clinton to endorse Obama as the VP. He needs to focus on fixing BET’s garbage selection and quit worrying about what the hell Clinton and them are doing.

Obama is gonna kill it this fall with or without Clinton. I prefer w/out:)

WHAT HE’S SAYING IS TRUE, THEY HAD ALWAYS BEEN INVOLVED IN HELPING THE BLACK COMMUNITY WHETHER PEOPLE WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT. AS SOON AS A BLACK MAN COMES INTO THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE WE ALL “FORGET” EVERYTHING BILL AND HILARY DID! DON’T BE SO IGNORANT AND TURN THE OTHER CHEEK, EVERYTHING HE IS SAYING IS RIGHT!

AS FAR AS CHANGE…DID EVERYONE FORGET WHAT HAPPEND TO SEAN BELL’S MURDERERS, OR THE JENA SIX, AND ALL THE OTHER STORIES THAT HAPPENDED IN THE PAST YEAR?

AMERICA…CHANGED? THESE WHITEPEOPLE AREN’T GOING TO GO OUT AND VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN…ALL THIS PRELIMANARY STUFF IS JUST SMALL ALL THE VOTING THAT HAPPENED DOESN’T EVEN ACCOUNT FOR HALF OF AMERICA.

I UNDERSTAND STAND THE WHOLE “CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE” BUT IT’S AMERICA PEOPLE…IM NOT BUYING!

BUT AGAIN DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED US OUT IN THE PAST! gIVE THE CLINTONS SOME CREDIT.

^^^^those are yet more Uncle Ruckus comments.

“Slavery was the best thing to ever happen to niggas. It provided jobs, gave shelter, and taught structure to the niggas. How dare we forget how Bill & that milky smooth skinned, tender white woman Hillary fought for us? I don’t care if they went crazy and started to alienate niggas; especially once those ungrateful niggas started to vote for one of there own.”

@ K, you are so right. The Clintons did do a lot for the black community. It was not that long ago that some were referring to Bill as “our first black president” Now that we may get one everyone is trying to throw him under the bus. Don’t forget the hand that use to feed us, to quickly accept a true black man that can’t even really be compared to Bill. We don’t toss one child out because we have another. Give Billyboy his props but it’s ok to let the past stay in the past. Not feeling Hillary as VP, but it may be Obama’s only way in.

We do have to remember that Hillary did state a few days ago that if she was not going to be nominated, she wants her supporters to vote democrat. In the black community of those registered to vote how many will vote just because Barak is black. How many will vote because he is not old like McCain. How many can’t vote due to felonies? We need Hillarys voters to keep this dream alive. The American population of blacks is only 12%.

We need Oprah to campaign with him. I do believe Senator Obama got a lot of support because Oprah’s soccer moms think she is GOD and did not find anything wrong with supporting a black man. Most don’t see Oprah as a black woman but a empire.

Just My 50 Cents. Inflation is a bitch. lol

WE as Americans… should WE just keep bending over and taking it??? (What is fed to us I mean…) Or do we finally stand up and fight for what is RIGHT not WRIGHT. How much longer can America be prostituted for that all mighty dollar? What is the real reason behind the collapse of our economy? How many jobs must go overseas before we all move to India? Is ANY of our food made in America? Does anyone even care? It’s going to take more than just electing a politician…. I like Obama’s message…HE gets my vote no matter who his VP is going to be!!!

The things the Clintons have done the Black community, can we get some statistics, percentages and exmples? People say they’ve done so much I’d just like an example or two.

It’s like when people say,”They say you should lift your arms when you’re choking.” Well who the eff are “they”? Don’t you ever wonder? People are saying the Clintons have done so much. Well what have they done?

TO K and ANNA:

How the HELL did Bill and Hillary help the “black community” specifically? And I need factual statements. Because a lot of the affection black people have toward Bill is that he cheated on his woman in the oval office, and played the saxophone.

George Bush had more black folk in higher ranking positions than the Clintons EVER did.

So again, I say, what the HELL did the Clintons do for US!?

Bob Johnson is Uncle Ruckus to a tee! And he don’t like Obama spreadin his nigga essence in the air!

I really don’t know much about politics or Bob Johnson. All I know that he use to be owner of BET.. and I just learned from this blog that he is the first black billionaire. But I knew about Viacom ownng BET, but I thought that was always the case..so anyhow..

I always said one of runners need to back the winner of this nomination. Just so the assasins will be a bit hesitant.

I watched alot of what Obama has to say and I agree. OBAMA for PRESIDENT!!
