According to unconfirmed reports rapper Lil’ Wayne’s latest CD The Carter 3 (digital album…whatever form thrills you) is looking like it will outsell Ursher’s latest and put the “Lil’” guy in competition with hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z, Kanye West and 50 Cent.

what the hell are u talking about?^

u clearly know nothin about music! those are numbers that artists pushed back then, and those are remarkable numbers! u dont have to like his music but u gotta respect the numbers, because that is huge! And life those are not digital numbers. most of those sales will come from the cd. the regular one. “Lollipop” was a super smash and was sure to send Wayne over the roof! In this case well deserved. Se labels thats all u need is good promo and a smash single and that is still the key to a successful, meanwhile it seems as tho Usher’s latest effort will bomb! people just seems not to care, and that “Moving Mountains” crap aint moving anything.

This album could and probably will go multiplatinum !!!
Everybody jammed to “Lollipop” so he’s reeping the success from it. Those numbers are huge !!!

600K for a first week of sales is not a down trend, dumb ass.

18K for Lil Mama is a down trend.

Do the math maybe you’ll understand.

Question Is How Much Of The CD’s Will His Label Buy 30 Or 75 Percent. The Dude Was Hott At One Point, But As Of Late With All Of The Bullshit Contoversy Around Him It Seems As He’s Making Enemies And Not Friends(Public Drug Addiction, Gay Rumors, Dissing DJ’s, Avoiding The Second Most Hated Man In America Behind Bush, 50 That Is, etc.) It Seems As His Talespin Of Success Is Sprialing Down. So Him Selling An Estimated 600,000 In His First Week On An Album That Has Been Misplaced, Allegedly Stolen And Pushed Back For 2 Years Raises A Few Eyebrows. I Mean Did We All Forget Wat Happens When You Dont Do Huge Numbers Look At Fat Joe, Since His Album Dropped He Has All But Died Due to Low Numbers. So The Pressure Is On Him If He Doesnt Do These Type Of Numbers First Week His Relevance In Hip Hop Is At Stake, If He Came Out And Did 181,000 First Week Thats A Huge Number With Todays Piracy, But It Would Look Like A Failure Due To Numbers Set In Previous Years And The Buzz He Once Generated. So What Is His Companies Mindset, Throw A Few Million We Can Write-off And Boost His First Week Sales.

P.S. While All The Guys Mentioned In The Article Are “Hop-Hop” Heavyweights There’s Only One Elite Mentioned…..50 Cent After Selling 1.2 Million In 5 Days He’s In An Elite Class With Only the Likes Of Eminem Snoop And Other Pop Artist In The Music Industry Who Have Pushed 800,000 In First Week Sales Of There Rookie Or Sophmore Album

“Jay Z has more number one albums that any act in music history.” Whoa if you’re gonna be wrong you gonna be wrong and strong, huh @Jayroc? People wanna talk numbers?
Here’s numbers:
MARIAH CAREY HAS MORE #1s THAN ANY ACT IN HISTORY W/18! (She just beat out Elvis and the Beatles.)
Diana Ross is tied with Carey at 18 #1 hits, if you combine her 12 chart-toppers with the Supremes and the six from her solo career. Michael Jackson behind is them with 17, if you combine his four #1 hits fronting the Jackson 5 and the 13 from his solo career. Other artists with 10 or more #1 hits are: Madonna, 12; Whitney Houston, 11; and Janet Jackson and George Michael, 10 each. And Jay Z has his 10th #1 album with “American Gangster”.

So relax there Jay. @Relle, my psychic blog twin you always put it so succinct and to the point.

#1: Numbers CAN lie. Consider this, Jimi Hendrix didn’t have the “numbers” but you ask any true Hip-Hop artist, modern day rock, blues, or country guitarist to name their top 5 guitar influences and Hendrix’s name will be there everytime. The Grateful Dead had thousands of people follow them all over the globe for 30years. How many rap artists can say that about their fickle fan base? In the end RESPECT trumps numbers.

#2 This is expression here. People voice opinions so no need to get panties all in a bunch. This is why so many American rights get taken because the people try and squash each other. Some will love. Some will hate. 50 said go ‘head and switch the style up and if they hate them LET THEM HATE and watch the money pile up!

Nuff said.

Be Honest With Yoursleves Numbers Mean Nothing As An Artist But You Have To Look At The Big Picture Here If He Doesnt Do Bigg Numbers His Lure Is Gone So What Are They gonna do Manipulate Numbers Its Been A Practice Used For Years In Hip-Hop. Just think About It Most Rap Is Sending A Direct Message To Males From The Ghetto Ages 15-28 This Audience Doesnt Purchase Legit CD’s So Hip Hop Has to Find Away To Make Up For There Loss Boostin Sales Is One Way

??? Jimmy Hendrix has nothing….absolutely nothing to do with that. This certain part of the page only asked how Lil Wayne will do as terms of numbers that’s it, so just answer the question, respond to the question, explaining your answer and move on. This is not a battle of who the best artist is or who the best rapper is. And by the way BOOGIE_BANGIN, numbers don’t lie buddy because out of all those people you just mentioned. There estates are worth millions and millions of dollars. Those people sold most of there records after there death. There music started off as sort of a cult and ended up being a nation wide money making profit of music that all of those artists that you mentioned came out with. So numbers, at the end of the day do not lie. Numbers are the only universal language. Remember that aight! And o people are voicing there opinions, however when you start to get off the subject of what we should be talking about, it ends up becoming a disorganized argument over something that was the topic to begin with.

@King Les II, which came first, the respect or the numbers? Yes the respect (for good music, creativity and artistry) is the reason why Tupac, Biggie, Elvis and Jimi still sell records even though they’re dead. But as you are a stickler for details when there are none, I shall cast my lot.

Do I think Li’l Wayne will legitimately sell 600K units/CDs? No. Those days are over for most rap and R&B artists. Do I think he will reach the 600K mark with the help of the Cash Money Records sales stimulus budget? Yes I do.

I beg your pardon @King Les II but the headline strikes me as a question of surprise bordering on disbelief by the.Lifefiles and not necessarily a strict invitation, “yes” or “no” question, of whether he will accomplish that task. In fact, the caption does state that further info will be provided to us on whether he does, in fact, reach that number. So, “buddy”, it looks like the open ended headline left for us to ponder, will produce any number of very interesting subtopics.
Aight.

@MsKarla, I agree. I don’t even think I can comment on this anymore. To have to use such epithets in a relatively intelligent difference of opinion, shows a serious lack of depth (and vocabulary IMO) of some folks. One has to always go THERE. Once again MsKarla, well said.

its funny to hear the back and forth bickering, everyone has an opinion; but one thing is a fact… Numbers dont lie, People do! So no matter how many albums the label decides to buy, all that truly matters is what Billboard and Soundscan say.

Besides, as long as MY check is on time, the label can buy as many copies as they want to! “I GET THE BEAT FROM MMMMMMMAESTRO!!!”

^^^ lol i know right people steadily hating, say what u want but certain artist still sale thats just that. face it. not everybody likes ipods and mp3 players so get over it! and all the kiddies are snathcing this (cd) up real quick asap. so they are buying it. and the days of selling 600k are not gone alotta artist have done this not so long ago! Wayne will crush the 600k mark, more than likely he will sale between 850k to 950k !!!!!!!!! of cd’s. the shiny thing. people still buy em and without sales would be terrible. screw a download !!!

Here you are people, enjoy! According to MSN Music…

“NEW YORK (AP) — The excessive leaks and bootlegging of Lil Wayne’s new album haven’t prevented it from being a hot seller: The rapper’s ‘Tha Carter III’ sold 423,000 copies in its first day of release, according to Billboard magazine, citing figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
With such sales, Lil Wayne is on pace to sell about 900,000 copies of the CD in its first week and post the best sales debut of the year. Last year’s first-week top-seller was from Kanye West, who sold some 957,000 copies of ‘Graduation.’ “.

well, the only reason i dont like wayne is becuase the dont make sense!!!! he cant rap!!!!!!
he ripped off the way hes raps from e-40, that proper english stuff..and e40 got it from an oldschool cat too…
he said in a southern smoke tape, that he wants to sell 5 mil. he wont… if you were on top of your mixtapes, you wouldve had his whole ablum…
and plus on other tapes he would “freestlye” on his album he used those freestyles as verses…oooooooo creative…..ill give him this, he did have ONE track that i liked. only because he made sense and showed his real emotion on his verses…

that’s me though, get the bun-b cd. hella better than wayne
