@Rellextra he IS still trash. But, folks I hate to say it, he hustled his a$$ off before that album came out. And I also hate to say that he really did sell those. I had to talk to some connects get some research done. But…

The industry doesn’t have the time or money (even tho this is the Universal Music Group we’re talking about here) to be buying up artists albums anymore (hence Ashanti’s poor sales) so folks went out and spent their funds.

For some unknown reason girls find him “cute” or “fine” so he’ll sell with them. He did that joint with Gym Class Heroes and he remixed Robin Thicke’s song “Shooter” so he’s bringing in the white kids. This dude works hard. And he’s got the South at his back. Trash or no the South gives more unity and support than the North does. You have some good rappers in the North that can’t sell icewater in Hell because there is NO support! Instead of getting mad, get a pad and take notes. New York radio sounds like it’s from the South, wonder why? People aren’t buying songs anymore they’re buying rap commercials. Glossy, well packaged gangster wanna be Bloods or Crips or drug Kingpins commercials.

Rapping minstrels are moving on up. Long live the King!

Hip-Hop just died this morning… She’s dead. She’s dead.

All I can Say is, Some ppl told me its not possible to sell records anymore. Wayne is a really good rapper. ( NOT BIGGIE, PAC, NAS, JAY, PUN GOOD) but worthy of where he’s at. Congrats to him for striking when the iron was hot & I personally thank him for inspiring me to keep grinding… PEOPLE STILL BUY MUSIC, LIKE IN THE STORES BUY IT!!!!!

IF THE MUSICS HOT & YOUR HOT THE PEOPLE WILL BUY IT………………….

he’s a martian that sold a milli. ppl, need to put the H8 aside and realize the marvel that Wayne is… he had no promotion for this album, no real ad’s. most ppl didnt even know he was dropping C3 till rougly 2weeks ago. that goes to show the buzz he held thru C2 and all the mixtapes (lol), shows, features, etc. he’s been on. let’em live and congratulate–

Plz, stop talking about folks are hating. That’s like when rappers talk about all the drugs they are currently taking and selling, on their albums, then they call everyone else a snitch!

When you’ve been to the Fever; when you’ve used turpentine to remove incriminating Krylon and Rustoleum spraypaint from your hands and it’s still under your nails; when you’ve had rug burns from trying to do new breaking moves in the house (witcha dumb azz :P ); when you heard of DJ battles where cats’ equipment was the prize if they were wack(and equipment did get TOOK!); when you heard MCs from the South like Big Boi, Andre 3000, Eight Ball, MJG, Scarface and Bushwick Bill and then you have any number of little pissants trying to convince you of how DEEP Li’l Wayne is, I’m sorry it’s not hating – it’s BITCHING!

I commend Li’l Wayne on his hard work. In his career, up til now, he’s probably gone triple platinum in all. And now platinum in one week! That’s incredible and well deserved. But don’t sit here and try to convince me that this guy is St. Georges De Chevallier or Bach or Chopin and he can’t even play “Chopsticks”. Especially when we know rap fans are FICKLE! The Rolling Stones, Tony Bennett, U2 still tour big time! Hip-Hoppers round the world still pay to see Rakim, KRS-One, PE, EPMD, Common, DeLa Soul Slick Rick… How many of you rap fans are going to the next concert rapping “legend” Soulja Boy is having……………….?

It’s official, I hate the word “haters” and pledge to strike it from my extensive list of coloquialisms. “Legendary” may be coming in at a close 2nd.

it is a sad fuckin day for hip hop when a rapper with horrible Mic skills sell that many records..That is like Milk Dee selling 10 million!…Wake up world and pick up a Nas, Jadakiss, even a KRS ONE album!!!!..LIL Wayne is the worst rapper alive!

BOTTOM LINE IS THIS…

Anyoneeee who can sell a MILLION records their first week out in an age where people are STEALING music left right and centre, deserves a DAMN HAND CLAP.

You don’t have to dig Weezy (although I personally do) but you have to respect his hustle and his work ethic. Because it works…

You all can keep hating but none of us will probably see no 4/5 million dollars off of one project in our lifetime…. that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Eat it up or sweep it up…

@ Boggie_Bangin hip hop has been dead for a long time…the point you made was vaild but its like trying to prove a point to a person that speaks French and your speaking German…they are not going to get it…I mean yes the Lollipop song is hot and I guess he has a lil swagg to him (by no means on Hov level) but the GOAT anom please slow your role…its not that serious…as far as New Yorkers being backwards…WHATEVER LMAO!!

@soullink.net wow midnight maraunders…you took me back for a minute!!

@Dawn, I was gonna say something but, Babygirl, you broke it down to its very last compound.

I’m speaking Urdi to a bunch of rabid Li’lWaynians. And the point that they are missing is, there are a few who are “hating”, but the general consensus is that your king is NO MC. He’s an OK rapper at best and a craptastic rapper, um, at best. Lollipop is cool but so are Pepsi commercials. @anom you’re funny. He’s the GOAT, huh? You do realize that term was coined by a backward New Yorker, right?

@Dawn how ’bout that “Low End Theory” or that “3 Feet High n Rising” bet you going back on that “What? The Album” from the REAL martian. Thanx for your wise words,Babygirl.

Boogie_Bangin I’m right there with u homie. I gave up telling these lil wayne dickriders that he’s garbage. The problem is none of these youngn’s know what “real hip-hop” is. They all caught up with what they see on MTV. They don’t take the time to listen to the real artists (mostly from NY) who have serious mic skills and ain’t rapping about the same bullshit every song (money, jewelry, cars). Oh and by the way, you know I got that ‘Low End Theory’ in the glove box, along with ‘Ressurection’.

Gotta respect his hustle i guess…… But all the “real hip hop heads” on this thread know the deal. He got that swagger, he did come a long way… and he is fortunate enough to come from the South where they do support their artists….. Unlike here in NY.. (sad to say)

I think people need to take a step BACK and realize whether you like this dude or not he hustled his way to the top of his genre at this point. People want to call his skills wack or mediocre…others say Hip-Hop is dead because people are buying his album, or other albums that they consider “wack”.

Folks…this happens EVERY TIME someone blows up. Pac blew up and people started saying he was “gay”, or raped in jail, or whatever. BIG blew up, and everyone said he was biting Pac’s style. Jay blew up, and Jay is biting BIG and talkin’ tuff shyt to Nas. Nas blew up, and then he dropped that one wack album (I had to throw that in, because I’m a Nas fan, but he dropped that Oochie Wally ALBUM, and the actual CD was a flop), okay….you can go on and on…

But you know what? Numbers don’t lie! Period! I don’t care what you say, but they do. I’m sorry, but at the end of the day, just show SOME respect. I’m an older gentleman, and there is no way I can hate on Lil Wayne, just like I didn’t hate on Jay as he blew up in the shadows of the deaths of Big and Pac…I haven’t even hated on Soulja Boy, whom I personally don’t get down with, but numbers talk. If a man/woman is getting their grind on in this industry, in this fickle “game”, then why hate?

Do you…get yours. It’s not necessary for you to hate? What you eat don’t make them shit…please stop it…

And yes, I said HATE. I’m still using the word, because that’s what it is….

Get ya Money Weezy….and I’m not even calling you the GOAT or anything like that. But I respect dude’s hustle…period.

So when MC Hammer sold a billion records in the early 90’s, did that mean that he was the King?? Records sales only prove that Wayne has broke though to the mainstream market. You create a small buzz that turns into a big buzz. Can anyone remember when 50 had everyone one in NY open off of a mixtape and then had the world going crazy off of that buzz? The King tilte goes to the nicest MC and I am sorry, that is not Lil Wayne. Is he even in the top 10? I don’t think so. I think he album is a good one, but it isn’t a classic. He offers very little on content.
