Did Spike Lee Hurt His Oscar Chances By Going Against Clint Eastwood?

by admin on 09/12/2008 · 5 comments

After going back and forth about the presence of black actors in war flicks a while back director Spike Lee is talking to King Magazine about the rift saying, “My wife Tonya told me I may have hurt my chances with the Clint Eastwood stuff… They (Oscar voters and Academy bosses) take everything into account with me. They take into account that I like the Knicks or that I’m in New York.

At this point in his career, an Oscar would be like a slap in the face. Spike has already come so far, making his own movies and preading his own message, that a Oscar wouldnt really mean much. He’s done great work and I hope he’ll continue to weather he takes home an award on not.

I cant wait for Miracle at St.Anna! Im going to see it on the 27th though, Pres. Debates on the 26! Woo hoo!

I agree with you Dom , I dont believe spike has anything to prove his work speaks for it self.

Spike don’t need no justification from them. And what he said was correct. If you’re gonna tell history, tell it right.

Spike is a f***ing racist!!
The fact that he’s paranoid enough to see racism everywhere blinded him to the fact that black marines are seen in Flags of Our Fathers.
He, no doubt, goes to bed every night chanting “Kill Whitey! Kill Whitey!”
I ain’t goin’ to no Spike Lee film festival.
