Palin exceeded every low expectation I had for her last night. She did not completely make a fool of herself – Like I hoped she would not do, but expected. I still squinted my eyes and gritted my teeth like I was a passenger on a train about to crash too many times.
I would have liked to see Biden push her on her stances and Exactly “How they PLAN or PROPOSE to clean up Washington and Wall Street.” Biden did bring it home when he spoke about his family. I was glad to see that he didn’t let her talk about the average American like McCain-Palin will are better suited because she is a hockey mom.
You can easily say you will Veto every bill with pork, but when you do it you just explain it away AFTER you are President. = No New Taxes, right. Obama said he will go line by line to make sure we are spending money wisely.
McCain will give us a 5K tax break for health insurance, but tax the healthcare benefits. So, basically, most employers will not offer what little left of healthcare they give us anyway. If you don’t think “private” practices will not raise their rates (cause they can and there is no one to put caps on things) you are being fooled.
I also Hate how they keep saying that if the Demecats set a time-table, which is responsible planning by the way, then we are raising a flag of surender in Iraq. If the Republicans leave in a year we are victors. WTF. We have already won. We accomplished what he intended. The backwards child psychology works on stupid people, but not all of us.
Then, what fools are saying drill drill drill? If the Government decided to put out the electronic care we already have and provide tax credits for buying them we can easily and quickly (less than 10 years needed for drilling) stop our dependence on foreign oil. Car companies are scrambling to try to come up with a more expensive gas-hybrid to continue there drilling of America. We can do the same thing Cali did and pass zero emission legislature. (Really Easy). Other countries already are using the compressed air engines, but they just don’t seem to meet our safety standards. Then, the electronic car, still seems to be a second thought to hybrids cause they have less moving parts and would require less maintenance.
Even after Bush-Cheney lied about the WMDs (clearly) we still elected him again. Most republicans say they would re-elect him, too. I ask everyone I come in contact with who they are voting for and why –just to see what they say. Most people who are voting for McCain-Palin say so and explain why with a glossed over look. Then, spew nonsense about stuff they get in their chain mail at work.
She was being sarcastic and acting like it was a real debate – as opposed to the boring speeches from McCain and Obama last week – but I don’t think she was very factual. Biden was more specific and I felt like she was being a true politician with her vague approach. Her tactic was that she isn’t part of the white house and is just like the rest of us Americans but I’m not sure if that will go very far considering the fact that her lack of experience is the reason why people are getting at her so much.
People are only entertaining Palin because Obama is black. If Obama were white then Palin wouldn’t even be in the running. Her existince in this race is uterally insulting to me as a black middle class citizen with real concerns. The republicans are successfully turning this race away from the issues into a prime time tv show. Sarah didn’t exceed any of my expectations at all. Her prepared speeches didn’t answer the questions to the point of gaining my trust and confidence. The American public is knowingly being manipulated by the McCain camp and is looking the other way because Obama is black.
What’s up with Americans wanting a leader who is just like the regular guy. Do you want a brain surgeon operating on you who is anything but exceptional??!??

Considering how low her expectations were she did do well. However there were many topics that she failed to speak on. How many times did she talk about Energy and Taxes. Energy is what she knows and is familiar with Ok we get that but what about some accusations Biden made about McCain that she couldn’t answer. We heard about energy and taxes a hundred times from her and when she attempted to jump into foreign policy she clearly made mistakes first calling the Commanding General in Afghanistan McCllellen….umm get it right Sarah I believe that was the Civil War (I think). To say that if we have a timeline in Iraq then it’s raising the white flag??? I am in the military and have been to Iraq 2xs the last time for 15 months. There is no WINNING there because they are fighting a civil war. We went under false pretenses, we murdered their president, we caused a new ingnition of the civil war there. What we are doing is keeping the PEACE. There is nothng to win!! The Shia and Sunni have been at each others wits for hundreds of years!! We need to leave so the blame can be on them. They will blame us for leaving them with a 80 Billion surplus???? I think not but if they feel they need our help after that then let them ask.
I wanted to hear more answers on tough questions like Darfur, the mortgage crisis and the economy for the middle class, and for her to protect McCain when Biden attacked her with facts that she knew nothing about. I believe her excuse was that she’s only been at this for 5 weeks….well YOU chose to place yourself in this position meaning you should’ve been up to par on your politics. And for mainstream media to say she connected with the “people” with her colloquialism and gee golly’s…I’m not sure what they are talking about because I sure as hell don’t talk or think like that. It is a mockery that every working mother out here is like that or that we wink every other sentence. I for one don’t think politics is a laughing matter.
I think Biden was poised and delivered well I wish he was more attacking towards her and to call her out that she wasn’t answering questions because she didn’t know the answer. I wanted him to drag her to the limelight and leave her there to suffer. Unfortunately he was polite so I give him that. He impressed me with his knowledge of both tickets policies and when he got onto the McCain policies Palin didn’t once say he was telling a lie. I liked that. I also loved the bridge to nowhere comment…Priceless!!
p.s. Did anyone hear the “Sen. Obiden” or was that just me?
It’s strange to me how people hate Palin for the same reasons they love Obama.
I didn’t cringe at all. I thought she done very well. She got the Republican base energized again, and that’s what she needed to do.
Of course 99.9% of the people who will comment here WONT like what she had to say..because anyone that has the ‘audacity’ to question Obama must be an Idiot.
I also felt Biden had his shining moments. I didn’t like how he kept letting her jab him and he not strike back.
I did ‘cringe’ when he got choked up..he had a Hillary moment about to cry. i thought that was planned and didn’t go over well.

First off, Anonymous, I’m glad to FINALLY hear one of our troops talk about the REAL scenario in the Middle East. My older brother is over there for his second tour, and he says it is NOT a joke…
Secondly, I think Biden needs to be commended because he remained calm and collected throughout the debate. We all know that he is the REAL pitbull of the Senate and of this election. He didn’t attack Palin (if he did, the media would’ve attacked him for being so hard on the “average American, white, female candidate). He remained respectful; she called him Joe, but he kept it professional and always referred to her as “Governor”. He was also well versed in plans, intended policies, and tactics of both camps.
As for Palin, she did not flub and flounder as much as people expected (it’s hard to misquote a topic when you don’t even understand the question or have very limited knowledge of the issue). She stuck to the topic she was most familiar with, energy. Her buzz words were “soccer moms, Joe Six-Pack, and energy-producing state”. When faced with questions or points in which she was ill-prepared, she tried to bring it back to her LIMITED experience as governor and…..energy. Conversely, she connected well with the camera, “looking” at the people at home and connecting directly with/to them. Remember, she’s a former beauty contestant; she knows to smile, wink, sound cute, and come off as likable. But as for her “re-energizing the Republican base”, that’s putting the cart ahead of the horse. There has been no research (and no TIME) as to yet determine how last night’s debate has impacted and affected the road to the election.
Americans (especially from the Northeast and the big cities) want shows, theatrics, and drama. They are going to sensationalize “polls” and “use a microcosm of people to “gauge” the rest of the country. (Who do they REALLY poll anyway?) But people in the south and midwest tend to have a different mentality. While Northerners question “what are you going to do to protect my money, investments and career”, Southerners question about their home, their land, and their job.
And in my opinion, the answer from the McCain camp is “send it straight to hell in kerosene-soaked hand basket. Remember, Palin is just a heartbeat away from the Presidency, if McCain were to win. And she’s already in accord to try to expand the role of the Vice President. McCain doesn’t even have to die; if he has a Cheney-like heart attack, you all will be saying “President Palin”, and I’ll be singing “Oh, Canada”!
Oh, and the “bridge to nowhere comment” had me rolling! Biden couldn’t leave without getting at least one zinger in there.
And every time Palin said “Obiden”, maybe she was throwing the two names together as a couple, like “Brangelina”. LOL.
And doesn’t she sound like the mom from the cartoon “Bobby’s World”?
FYI ppl Biden didnt tear into Palin because thats what the republicans hoped he would have done so they could have flipped it and made america feel sorry for her!! I felt that she did better than expected but I cringed on her tolernace comment with the whole gay issue…not a good choice of words Palin…she was very scatter brained and never could really answer a question…all she knows is Alaska and being a soccer mom…I 100% agree with JCrucial’s comment…

Slick move… Last night, after the debate, when they were all on the stage, the cameras hardly ever showed the pregnant daughter from the front or from the waist up…

Something is definately “rotten in the state of Denmark” regarding Palin and her family! I am still convinced that the baby belongs to the daughter that she currently pregnant…but thats my own opinion which actually I have found is shared by others but anyway as was said above I think both Carl and Disgusted summed it up perfectly!

Dawn, I was thinking the SAME THING… “Why is that little girl holding the newborn?” If Palin was smart, SHE would’ve had the newborn right after the debate was done, when all the cameras were focused on her.
