Like he said “If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy,” said Obama, 47, “tonight is your answer.”

It was 100 years to the day that the NAACP was started, making this truly a great day in America. There is so much already written about this day but the key story is that a man from Africa the same place that slaves were snatched from. He came to America and had a child. That child grew up to become President of that same land that tourtured, abused maimed, seperated, and demoted his race. So now anybody, no matter what race they are, in this country can become President if you are qualified. You don’t have to be white you can be of african, latin, asian, descent or any other. This is a very momentous day in our history.

But this is just the beginning we have to continue to push for a united and equal America. Where we are looked at by our worth to society and not by our race.

And the winner is President Barack Obama! A lot of people doubt it will ever happen, but many of us had faith the tiem for a change was here and it was good to see both black and whites mingling last night and shouting the victory cry. It was an emotional feeling watching blacks and whites come together last night in celebration.

yes I agree with Bianca. It took more than just OUR vote to get Barack to win by a landslide. 62,000,000 blacks, whites, hispanics, native american, asian, etc. believed in and voted for change!

@ Virgo…hold your head high!! There are going to be a lot of angry Americans in the months to come…and depending on where you live it will be more worse than others. I work in an office where I am the only person of color and only Christian…my bosses and collegues are White Jews and when I walked in the door this morning it looked like i walked into a party…everyone was so happy that Obama won…so it just so happens that everyone around me is celebrating but even if I was in an office or enviorment that was angry and upset and testing me I would brush my shoulders off and keep on smiling…America was heard loud and clear and we said Yes we can….Yes we did!
On another note….Black America WAKE UP WAKE UP! We have the worlds attention now lets see what we will do…let go of that Imma be a rapper or basketball playa mentality…pick up a book…go to the library…learn your history…fight for something worthy ( better teachers, parents realize that you must raise your children or the streets will…take ownership our your property or where you live…learn to have PRIDE in yourself…end these generational curses that have plagued our people for so long (well my grandmomma, momma, auntie and cousins are on welfare, having babies and living in the PJ’s so that what I’m going to do)…we always have issues with immigrants taking our jobs and doing better than we do…but they have a thirst for sucess in this country that we havent had since the Civil Rights era…STOP being a STATISTIC BLACK PEOPLE!!

Ok I have said my piece and now I am getting back to work!!

Today for the first time in my 28 years on this earth I was proud to be African-American!!

Dawn YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! on your last note. Stop complaining about white people having it easy. that’s your problem. You want it to be easy but that doesn’t mean the opportunity isn’t out there. Go get it, work for it and stop being lazy. Anything can happen! ANYTHING!

Now the real work begins. There are no excuses anymore. “The man is holding me down” or “The man has it out for me” won’t work anymore because guess what – the Man is Black! Obama serves as an example of the best in all of us. With a supportive family, determination, and access to education, the world is ours. Black people – it’s time for all of us to step our game up. We need to pull our pants up, buy shirts that fit, use correct English language, hold down our jobs, support our kids, stick out our marriages. It’s time to become the people our grandparents dreamed we would someday become. THE TIME IS NOW.
