Who could have predicted this day would come? After being acquitted in his ex-wife’s murder in a highly controversial case 61-year old O.J. Simpson’s life is once again in the hands of a judge and jury! This time Simpson is accused of going into a Vegas hotel room to retrieve some of his memorabilia that was stolen and asking some of the guys to bring weapons. After the trial O.J. was eventually convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping and assault on October 3 — 13 years to the day after his acquittal in the killings of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
Wearing a jail suit Simpson held back tears a gave a short speech in court today saying, “I stand here today sorry, somewhat confused. I feel apologetic to people of state of Nevada…I didn’t want to steal anything from anybody…I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid. I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was confronting friends. I thought I was retrieving my things. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody and I didn’t mean to steal anything…”
While the judge Jackie Glass had this to say, “Everything in this case was on tape…And its your own words, Mr. Simpson, you own words … that that brought you here to this seat in my courtroom. The evidence in this case was overwhelming…You went to the room. You took guns. You used force. You took property, and in this state, that amounts to robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.”
Four men charged with Simpson cut deals with the prosecution and testified against him and his co-defendant, C.J. Stewart who will also be sentenced today. One testified that Simpson asked him to bring a gun.
Wow! We thought he would get the six year minimum…but THIS, O.J. will be 76 when he is released! Is this a case of payback from the legal system? Is the sentence too harsh or just right?
UPDATE: According to AP, despite initial CNN reports of 15 years for O.J., according to Elana Roberto, the judge’s clerk Simpson could serve up to 33 years but could be eligible for parole after nine years.

Honestly i think its bulllshit and it was just a payback from legal system and they were not to let themselves get embarassed again after what happened in the case of the murder Nicole Brown Simpson. Honestly the judge had a point because everything was on video and OJ basically dug his own grave on that evidence tape. Even with that the punishment is still harsh and i think Orenthal shoulda hired Clifford Harris(T.I)’s lawyer because if a convicted felon who was caught with a portion of Al Qaeda’s weapon cache(lol) and only got a year i would take my chances any day with that legal team. But damn OJ hold ya head up and on the bright side at least u got to see a Black President before you went in….
