A Los Alamitos, California [population 12,000] Mayor is under fire after sending out this email to several members of his community titled No Easter Egg Hunt This Year depicting watermelons on the White House’s front lawn. Local businesswoman and city volunteer Keyanus Price who is black says and got the email says:
“I have had plenty of my share of chicken and watermelon and all those kinds of jokes. I honestly don’t even understand where he was coming from, sending this to me. As a black person receiving something like this from the city-freakin’-mayor – come on.”
While the Mayor Dean Grose’s responded in an email to AP:
“Bottom line is, we laugh at things and I didn’t see this in the same light that she did. I’m sorry. It wasn’t sent to offend her personally – or anyone – from the standpoint of the African-American race.”
Who hasn’t sent out one of these silly email forwards, but from a city official….thoughts?

While this is in poor taste, it’s tiring to see people’s careers messed up over making jokes that used to be shown in the cartoons. Watch Tex Avery cartoons from the 1940′s and you’ll see tons of such stereotypes, and most of them are funny. This all comes back to the idea that black were “enslaved” – but this is hypocrisy. The Irish were even worse off. Owners who didn’t want to risk their black slaves for really dangerous work would send in the Irish. As an irish person, I never once in my life even dreamt of being owed anything, except to fight and protect my country which my ancestors suffered to make better. Further, anyone working for minimum wage today is far worse off than a slave from the 1800′s, IMO. We’re all slaves, and going after this mayor isn’t going to help. We need to go after the Federal Reserve Bankers.

I have received many jokes since Obama was elected. Who cares about this picture. What she should have done is what most normal people do is delete it. There is no need to make a federal case out of a silly joke. I have many African American friends and they all love watermelon and chicken. I am Mexican and I love tacos.
I’m African American, and I can’t stand either watermelon or chicken.
A very “white” town in the southern U.S. that I had lived, near-by, for a brief few years has a big watermelon festival every year…. a state-run university I had attended (with a majority of whites) had a big party called “The Watermelon Suck” every year….
And ya know what….we even ate friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied chicken when I was a chile…. and never knew I was eating African-American-inspired cuisine. Go figure. I just thought it was home-style-fantastic-finger-lickin-country-cuisine.
Watermelons=African-Americans….Easter eggs=Easter Bunny….. it’s all absurd….lies…..culture….. get the chips off yer shoulders, folks. Faggeddaboudit!!!!!

It was perfectly acceptable for many high-ranking politicians to have a picture of Bush next to a chimp (and I admit he does look like one, especially when he scratches his head) hanging in their offices, but this is considered taboo by the PC Police simply because Obama is half-black.

Take a history lesson! First, there’s no compairing the issue of jokes of a monkey Bush, to racist jokes of a monkey Obama…simply due to the racist history of the connotation. Second, Pres Obama is NOT half Black; he, actually, is the epitome of Black. He is half African and half White…which, again, is what ‘Black’ is…i.e…Black is a created race of slavery…a the blending of White Men (most likely slavemasters) and African Slave Women (raped by their White slavemasters), creating the ‘Black’ race.

It’s because Africans were enslaved for 300 years in this country…raped and diluted to a new race, ‘BLACK’. …and then oppressed. My father fought in WWII to free a people from the rule of Hitler. When he came back home to the US, he was still treated as a 2nd class citizen, not allowed to patron shops, restaurants and harrassed under the laws of Jim Crow…so…when your group of people can make a similar claim, in this country, then, and only then, would your ridiculous comment apply.
