I think the fact that this has to play out in the national arena makes it all the more harder for both of them. they are both young and quite frankly prone to mistakes because of their youth.
Chris comes from what we here an abusive father and let me tell you abuse is a cycle that is hard to break.
Ri Ri works in an industry that says that guys will abuse you but its ok because they are under allot of pressure.
For the good of both of them, it would be best for them to stay apart and grow from the incedent. there will be plenty of time to get back together way later down the road if they so see fit. Doing it now will only ok the behavoir and acceptance on both of them.
