People are saying that Miss California may have cost herself the Miss USA title which nobody cares about, wants or watches other than on the internet when she told one of the judges, gay blogger Perez Hilton she believed marriage was between a man and a woman.

Perez does his NUMBERS but he annoys the shit out of us…telling somebody else not to speak their mind because it might be offensive?  WHAT….

Although I disagree, that was her honest opinion, we’re all entitled to it and everyone isn’t going to agree with it every single time. It is what it is.

I do hope they continue their fight to be “equal” in all arenas.

!. Why was Perez even a judge?
2. Everyone has their own opinion.
3. This is a beuaty pageant, where you have to fake it to make it to the top.

@ aleis: Marriage isn’t only for procreation.

I think that marriage is a union between a man and a women and is a RELIOUS issue and there for has no business being recognized by the state or the federal government. Everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation should be able to co exist with whom ever they want! Gays as tax paying citizens should be entitled to all the tax and property rights as heterosexuals’ folks. I say marriage should only be recognized in the church, if you want to get married go there. Civil Unions for all, that would take care of this nonsense and we can get onto more important things like ending war and curing AIDS.

i support miss california 100%. she’s a role model for standing up for what you believe in. perez hilton was biased. i dont think even matt agreed with what he was saying. he was saying one thing than the other. 1st how they should be politically correct than they should be savvy. well what if his homosexuaility is poilitically incorrect to me? he’s always talking about gays gays gays and expects christians to suppress their beliefs. if his parents were gay he would of never been born…one less blue haired idiot in this world

i think that ppl should be able to voice their opinions freely and say what they really believe so if that is what she believe then she has a right to voice that opinion. But there are politics to everything, even these pageants. She made a polarizing statement that alienated a lot of people. Plenty of the folks behind these pageants are gay men, and they were probably offended.

She was asked if other states should follow-suit; why or why not…She could have said the states have the right to make their own decisions. She messed up when she answered the question using the phrase “in my country”…which made it seem as though states that do acknowledge gay marriage are not a part of “her country”….yet this is a Miss USA pageant. She alienated a lot of people and it costs her the title.

Outside of religous beliefs, marriage is just a legal term used to provide tax shelters and other benefits to two consenting adults. The institution of marriage has already been ruined a million times over, allowing gays this basic civil right can’t do much more harm.

This Miss USA runner-up doesn’t deserve the backlash she’s getting. But we should all know by now that “free speech” in America is an illusion and always comes at a cost. I don’t agree with her opinion but I must applaude her for answering the question honestly. She isn’t running for public office and her views will probably have little to no bearing on any gay marriage laws now or in the future. She’s just a beauty pageant contestant.

We want freedom of speech but we want it to be restricted, that doesn’t make sense, you’ve gotta have it both ways, if you truly want freedom of speech it means the gay rights activists have the right to say they want gay marriage and EVERYone else, no matter who they are also has the right to say they oppose it.
