Tavis is a boot licking self hating nigga, and the biggest Obama hater ever. He thinks he is the next coming of Christ. NOT!
What exactly is the point/plot? Where are the black women and where does our story fit in with the theme of this movie? I got love for tavis but he blew me this past election cycle.
I’m gonna have to wait for HBO as well.
how he gonna even mention obama!
the story is about him!
a true blue uncle tom negroid stan!
He is not an Uncle Tom not in the least… I do not agree with him at all on how he acted during the election so dont get me wrong but he is not an uncle tom he just has his own agenda and thinks that everyone should be following it in the order that he wants. Files I’m not diggin the “we will wait til HBO” line really wasnt needed.
While racial injustices definitely still exist, I whole heartedly believe that statements like the one Tavis Smiley is quoted above as saying only feeds into the mental enslvement of our people. His statement may be true, but the type of thinking that it breeds is poisonous. A lot of blacks have been taught to believe that we can’t go beyond a certain level of success because we’re black and they won’t let us. This has been passed down from generation to generation. It has lowered our standards within our communities & has served as a distraction to our self-worth and progress. Obama’s presidential win totally refutes that type of thinking. His win means so much because he has shown us all that WE have the power within ourselves to take control of our own lives in spite of the inequalities and injustices and still come out on top. Once we focus on believing in ourselves, correctly educating our offspring and passing on higher self-esteem to the next generations and stop focusing on what it is that “they” are potentially doing to stop us, then we’ll really overcome.
@ Me……..I couldn’d have said it any better!
oops meant *couldn’t*
Dear Me,
At the end of the day Obama is a light skin bi-racial man that went to Harvard …. Some kids don’t have bootstraps to pull! This is CRAZY and sad we have come so far as a people and REFUSE to reach back because we believe “oh I did it so can they” Everything is not black and white, right or wrong. While I do believe we can fall into self-fulfilling prophecies it is important to be reminded of the REAL statistics and not get caught up in the fantasy ride President Obama (no disrespect because I am in full support of his agenda) and his historic victory gave us. WORK IS NOT DONE.
dis shit embarrases black people.
like we aint got nut’n to do but complain bout everything.
1st, the white house neva elected a black president, then oprah hates rap now this ish?
Dear fashion police,
We’ve spent the last 40-years reminding ourselves of REAL statistics and getting caught up in self pity and where has it gotten us? It’s time four our fight and struggle to evolve. President Obama’s example should be the force behind that evolution. For you to suggest that his presidential win can only be attributed to him being a light skinned, bi-racial, Harvard grad and to simplify it as a “fantasy ride” only proves my point of the deeply rooted mental slavery among blacks. He had a vision and saw himself being more than what he was told by society that he could be. More important than his Ivy education was his belief in himself. Yes, it’s very important for us to reach back and help our own, but the overwhelming feelings of despair, low-self worth, and mis-education that are paseed down in our community doesn’t allow the ones who need the most help to actually receive it. I’ve witnessed many blacks refuse advise from other accomplished blacks because they felt that “they think they’re all that”. You’re right, the work isn’t done because no matter what accomplishments are made by other blacks some will still continue to subscribe to the “no I can’t” mindset and not be able to see bigger value and potential within themselves or anything they’re associated with. The fight has merely just begun and this time around our worst enemy is us.
I dont agree with the fact that we are our worst enemy while we do need to reevaluate our culture and re-arrange some priorities etc.. I will not ignore institutionalized racism, i will NOT ignore white privliage, I will NOT ignore the the rockefeller drug laws, I will NOT ignore racial profiling!!! It appears like you insist on pointing your finger at “lower class , working class African Americans as the cause of our problems, I am asking that educated professional AA like ourselves (assuming) take some accountability in trying to bridge the gap and gain some understanding of our brothers and sisters that are less fortunate. For you to suggest that Obama’s bi-racial make up and ivy leauge education did not contribute to his victory tells me a lot about you and your lack of knowledge on how this all works young blood IF Obama was ten shades darker and his mother was a decedent of a slave he would be the 44th president…. Perhaps but do you think whites would have flocked to him so quickly Obama’s appearance is very non-threatening and this HELPED during his election that is just a fact please do some reading on beauty, skin color, height etc. and how they contribute to an individuals personal success.
Your right, no matter what some people will accomplish ahem the President of the United States of America there will always be some fool degrading his woman, dealing drugs, robbing old women, and making babies out of wedlock but for you to suggest the Tavis Smiley is contributing to that madness because he is spitting statistics is FOOLISHNESS because those people are not even watching, trust! See how i brought that back to the original post….look I don’t want no blog beef lol.
Tavis asked me and some other bloggers to come to his house to screen the movie today. Check out what happens at Leimert Park Beat.com,
