If Jay-Z Released An Album NOW How Much Would He Sell In His First Week?

We’re not sure if he can touch Eminem’s 650,000 estimated units in the first week….are you???  No pressure Jay-Z only the whole world waiting for you to say words that rhyme. We don’t really care what company is paying you millions to do it…..unless that affects the price of the music somehow….

I love Jay as much as the next guy, but I think his days of selling big are over. The new generation doesn’t seem to have that respect for him. I remember going to the Power 105.1 concert back in February, and Lil Wayne got so much more love than Jay Z. I like Lil Wayne, but that made me sick to my stomach.

I for one definitely wouldn’t be buying. He gets on my nerves as much as him woman does.

Jay could sell maybe 150k-350k in a weeks time….

The huge financial loss at that recent concert in Arizona is pretty indicative to me of where he stands

I don’t think he can pass 350k in first week sales but then again we haven’t heard anything from his new joint. If it’s a dual production assault from Timbaland and Kanye- it’s quite possible.

560,000 units. And that’s if he doesn’t release in a summer…650,000 if he releases in June or July.

I have realized that these numbers don’t mean anything…if you like an album, go buy it, if not, don’t buy it. Jay-z always puts out classic material and good music is good music…no matter how many albums are sold…the music companies can eat a dick….numbers…numbers…numbers…fuck the numbers…most music execs. dont’ even know good music, don’t know how to be innovative, don’t know how to truly forecast trends, do very little market research, budget incorrectly, don’t understand how important technology is, and actually do nothing relevant. YOU’RE FIRED MOMO’S….

If people were willing to buy that WHACK ASS (yeah I said it) Feminem (yeah i said that too) album then Jay should be able to sell (typing like madea) 31564516236564546484636987846164315464 albums his first day. At least it won’t be guaranteed garbage.

I had to give away my free copy of Fem…

i would say somewhere along the lines of 450k to 700k is possible with a smash hit good promo and all. he does have a huge and loyal following remember folks, even his last concept movie album went platinum …

Dizzle you wouldn’t know skill if it laid it’s nuts on your chin. Relapse is a great album…. Kanye West just told Entertainment Weekly that Eminem’s song “Insane” is brilliant. I didn’t expect that from Kanye- but even he can’t deny Em’s masterful wordplay

hov has lost some people due to well the youger crowd of music listeners only people i think can sell that big is wayne not saying that wayne is better than jay but wayne has the pop culture on lock right now thats how he sold what he did with the carter 3 jay has lost luster due to a. no songs and b. he is looking older than dirt right now and not everybody is off that joe camel swagger anymore so i would say 500k

Current state of the music industry being what it is, I say at least 300K. the only reason why Eminem is estimated to sell 600+k is because he hasn’t been out for more than 4+ years.

And I still don’t think he will sell 600K either… more like 400K

Jay could sell more if he puts out 2 hits before the release, makes the CD really special, and iTunes and amazone purchases come with album art, videos and junk. Oh and of course bonus tracks.

By the way, I think Lil Wayne next album will do better than 600K IF he keeps his hits coming. kayne West also 600K+ first week on his next work

Other than that, 100k+ for everyone else. CD’s are just not where its at. I haven’t bought a CD in years; I buy mostly singles and an occasional whole ablum.
