Michael Jackson’s famous move where he leans forward at almost a 45 degree angle in the video Smooth Criminal was one of his most talked about dance moves EVER!!! In the video he actually used string to accomplish the trick but when he was doing it live Michael Jackson actually filed a patent for this contraption under his shoe that worked with small pegs that rose onto the stage. The pegs allowed the dancers to stay steady while wearing the special ski boot styled ankle support.
Watch the video after the jump and at 3:55 in you’ll see what it looks like when one of Michael’s dancers gets his foot caught in the contraption.

Wish I knew that in 1988 when I was 5. I chipped my tooth tryin to to do that.
I thought it was real
damn, lifefiles. please don’t capitalize on the man’s moves that contributed to his greatness. posting sh*t like this is not respectful, as michael obviously kept things like these a secret to keep fans mystified and amazed. i know i was, until now.
booooooo to u.
it still looks awesome.
naah, i think it was said somewhere earlier by himself that it’s all about the shoes.
point:
so what? nobody came up with that before him, and nobody would ever think of that. MAGIC!
lmao @Shizz
miss shell i feel u but i knew of that before life files, remember when vh1 used to play vids n they would be giving info while it was going on, yeah thats where i knew bout that n michael was alive n well. people knowing won’t change a thang michael was in a league of his own, n with the internet downloads maybe impossible for any one to pass his record sales
Look at Michael slide himself off the platform…ever so smoothly-while singing- and pivoting himself! I can’t do that, if you can, you shouldn’t be reading this message; we should be paying to see you perform on stage. He capitalized off his intellectual property. He is a performer–a storyteller. It’s an illusion to help tell the story. Movies are artificial but if its a g-o-o-d movie people walk out laughing, crying, mad , or a little of them all.
Innovation!
damn! at the end, that’s some original swagger
Greatest entertainer that ever lived, love and miss him : (
