One of her first designs, some encrusted Converse

Hola. I’m Kerin Rose, owner/designer of A-morir. The accessory line, consisting of Swarovski encrusted glasses, headpieces and necklaces, has been around since the middle of this past October [2008]. I’ve been featured in Missbehave / Missbehavemag.com, Highsnobette.com, NY Post, NY Observer, AOL’s Stylelist blog, fashionweekdaily.com, the Urban Outfitters blog, I’m repped on MTV’s “The City” by the lovely Erin Lucas, and my Bizet frames were just in Jazmine Sullivan’s “Dream Big” video for 5 seconds… which is 5 seconds more than before!!

In addition to A-morir, I am the girl “Friday”/clothing designer for The Savant Guard, an incredible Brooklyn based record label. I have recently become a blogger for San Francisco’s Fatlace AND! I am also training for my first half marathon in 10 years with the Chrons and Colitis Foundation of America while my sister and I work on developing our 501c3 non-profit called We Love Your Guts. Please go to www.weloveyourguts.org to see what we’re about and help me in my fundraising efforts!

Spotted/Thanks Angelica!

She’s doing her thing. Rihanna was rocking a pair of shades a few days ago at Mr. Chow’s

Yeah and Rihanna just received her first fashion foul for doing so! These glasses are hot for chicks who CAN’T get their hands on the real Chanel joints. Rihanna can! She just took a L for this! On top of this, Amber Rose rocked the real Chanels a few months ago. Rihanna??? NO SLIP UPS ALLOWED! NONE!

Don’t get me wrong! I’m all for your new friend (MUCH SUCCESS TO HER!) and all about new designers, BUT, Rihanna shouldn’t be in knock offs! That’s like Rihanna carrying a new designer’s bag that looks exactly like Gucci, but, it’s not. It’s like, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! You model for Gucci and have the connects to the real thing. AGAIN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! So, for these glasses, it’s the same situation. She attends Chanel events and rock their clothes, so why rock Chanel knock off sunglasses? She’s a fashion icon and I KNOW she knows this. Fashion icons don’t rock knock offs. Sorry!

All those sunglasses she makes look very “do it yourself” If she just made them for herself it would be fine. This country is in trouble with all these people trying to sell other people’s ideas as their own. It is sort of the end

PS
Those Converse Shoes are encrusted without anything I perceive as “art” involved

It really is time Kerin Rose writes the inspiration for each piece, as I seem to know of designers who made the original for style on this site. Her paintings do not look like any of their art and major selling center, where she is a saleswoman, Patricia Field is so known throughout the industry for stealing others designs that she cannot even enter LaCraisia and borrow from them for fear the designs will go right to China with no credit to the makers and no licensing of design. MERCURA NYC has no association with this person, except her “friend” bought chain glasses and pearls from us and photographed our crystals. Now these appear to been the answer to a part time job! Check Rachel Gilman, an American top stylist’s blog for more insights.

You can see the original chain sunglasses in magazine from the 1980′s and 1990′s. They were made by MERCURA NYC, worn by Debbie Gibson among other musicians. The MERCURA NYC CHAINS were filmed on Bobby Brown in the 1980′s and owned by several interesting people at the Chelsea Hotel NYC including Shirley Clarke in 1988. Jose Eber in LA carried the line for many years, until he passed and a new manager took over the beauty center. Shops in New York, like Barney’s at 17th Street had them in their windows and there is an article about the original copywright by MERCURA NYC SUNGLASSES in a 1989 newspaper, as they were so popular.
MERCURA NYC SUNGLASSES still makes them and Hilory Beckford(management of models and mom of Tyson) wears them, as does Lil Kim, Marc Suefentes and a series of divas.
The others or rip offs are claiming they were “inspired” by MERCURA NYC SUNGLASSES, but stylists see the copy cat situation is dangerous to innovative thinkers who have to make a living too!
Check Rachel Gilman’s blog to see an American stylist’s opinion!

The first time I saw MERCURA NYC chain sunglasses were on Shirley Clarke at the Chelsea Hotel. They were smashing! Made with a chain of pearls that had been hand strung going directly into the top of a pair of cat eyes…… Everyone complimented them and she wore them often. That was back in the 1980″s. Then, saw those Cohen Sisters who hand make all the MERCURA NYC frames, wearing the big ones they made with the chains accross the top, now deemed the IT glasses. About four years later, to my knowledge, Chanel came out with his. It was shocking!

PPS the ladies who make these MERCURA NYC chain sunglasses are originally Canadian and please be aware Canadian copyright laws say when the artist is the first to make the law spontaneously comes into bein Internationally.

By the by ladies, as we read more on into the subject, Canadians take their copyrights very seriously, the moment an artist executes an innovation it is considered copyrighted.
I hear these ladies at MERCURA NYC, although living at the Chelsea Hotel for many years and being innner city girls for most of their lives in Manhattan are still Canadians.
