We’re assuming that Kelis is a very happy woman today, after a judge ruled that Nas will have to shell out $55,000 per month in child and spousal support. According to TMZ.com:
A judge decided Nas has to pay Kelis $55,000 a month in combined spousal and child support — plus the mortgage on their L.A. residence.
Nas also has to pay Kelis — who gave birth last night to the couple’s only child — for the baby nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance.
The rapper also has to pay $35,000 to his worst nightmare — Kelis’ lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser.

I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He shows up to the hospital drunk, stressed her while she was preggo, and only gave her 350 and gift cetificates? Kelis has proof Nas cheated. Which was why Kelis filed for divorce from him. Nas needs to cut it out.
Rumor has it that it was Kelis who had a homemade sex tape with some unsigned rapper that Nas knows and that somehow the video got out (and to him) and he couldn’t verify when the video was made (before or after their relationship). This was supposed to be the reason for the divorce that HE was supposed to file for but Kelis beat him to the punch.
It’s clear Nas was the breadwinner in the relationship and had enough money to get the family accustomed to a certain lifestyle level, which is why there was an order of spousal support. I’m sure the spousal support order will end in sometime soon since they’ve considered the fact that Kelis can’t get right back to work immediately after giving birth. Especially in the grueling music industry where image (for women) is everything and freedom is necessary to handle the demands. I’ll give it at most 5 years (school-age).
Also, as Kelis begins to earn her own living again the order will surely be adjusted to reflect the fact that BOTH parents are once again financially able to provide for their child. As for the house, one spouse can’t make the other spouse exit the family home so it looks like Nas had rather pay the mortgage than fight for ownership. He could have just wanted his child to have a place to call home beginning on the day of his birth rather than having Kelis hop around like a gypsy with his child until she found something suitable.
And as always, if Nas doesn’t like the ruling or his income takes a dip, he can always get a new hearing to adjust the order to lessen the payout.
I’m a female and even if Nas is an asshole, a cheater or whatever, that there is KIND OF STEEP.
Russell Simmons pays $40G’s a month for his TWO girls and he’s WAY more rich than Nas. Same for 50, he only pays $6,700 a month and he’s caked up too.
If this is about earnings, then the most Nas should’ve had to pay is $10g’s a month and even that is pushing it. I mean if you have to factor in a nanny and whatnot, okay whatever, but still….
