We usually don’t like when people say bad stuff about us, but The Hat Observer did a good job in a post called “The $100,000 Hat vs. the LIFE Files.com”. Stop laughing and read what they said:
How much are you willing to pay for a hat? Well, as we all know, there are people for everything in this world. Even, for instance, people who bash about an expensive hat just because it’s expensive, which is the case of thelifefiles.com, a fashion blog that published today a derogatory post about a one-hundred-thousand-dollar, hand-woven straw Panama hat that was commissioned by Brent Black to Simón Espinal, an Ecuadorian waiver who has been labeled as the best weaver in the world.
The post presents the Montecristi Panama as ‘The Hat’ and under the picture writes, “We’re sure it’s weaved in some heavenly straw…BUT C’MON”.
One of the problems with hats in recent years is that they haven’t been taken seriously. Or, even more likely, that they’ve been taken as an accessory that doesn’t deserve more than a few bucks, one that is both casual and informal. We aren’t here to predict neither of both perspectives; you buy and wear what you want. Rather, we are here to ask for some sort of respect to a millennial tradition that, by the way, provides a life to people in foreign countries, which is actually the case of Mr. Espinal in Ecuador. The mistake of thelifefiles.com is not to let us know their opinion about the price of a hat, but to misestimate the work of an artist, a hardworking, talented artist.
You, Resident of The World of Free Will, can choose a 12-dollar straw hat at St Marks Place in New York City or a 100 thousand-dollar one like this one. Whatever you do, however, just take into account that you get what you pay, and that the Hat thelifefiles.com is bashing of is part of a folkloric institution.
Hat blogger you’re right…WE’RE the only culture hating jerks that think $100,000 is too much to pay for a hat Mr. Espinal created which we gave enough exposure to make it to your top-hat blog. Nice blog post, wrong site….we like it when people pay exorbitant amounts of money for clothing items, even in a worldwide recession.
Real apology after the jump!
We didn’t say it was ours…….

ahahahaha the clinton clip was comedy! lol
Hat Observer…suck a fat dick and shut up!
…..a $100,000 hat is ri-frikin-diculous!
Before I speak, I have something important to say. Do you have a one-thousand-dollar computer? Yes you do. Why?Because you choose to. Do you think the computer is worth paying that amount of money? Yes you do. So you buy it.
There are other people in the world (believe me: there are other people in the world) who think a computer is not worth a single penny, like, for instance, Mr. Espinal. Why? Because they just don’t need it. They think, on the other hand, that the work this kind of hat implies worth’s one hundred thousand dollars; which other people, in fact, choose to pay. You might think that, okay, they are just stupid and you’re intelligent, that they waist their money and time making and buying useless ultra-expensive things and you choose something more practical for a lot less money. Well do, go a head and be my guest. Think what you want. Stay arrogant.
Oh, yeah, no one is looking for apologies.
The observer, now let me ask you an important question, if Mr. espinal does think a computer is worth a single penny, then how does he advertise his hat? and how did u think the computer he thinks is worthless had an impact on the stupid hat?
I am from Nigeria and I can guarantee u that there are market women who are way more better weaver than Espinal, but because there is computer in the village they live, they are not able to get as much exposure.
Now tell me, did u what personal computer do u know costs 100,000 dollars apart from the enterprise ones? and did u type the above comment u made on your stupid hat?

Wow really, they were really offended because someone thought a 100,000 dollar hat. Wow it actually really makes me laugh. Well only somebody that had 100,000 to spend on a hat would even buy it so it doesn’t apply to me. This is almost as bad as PETA and their ridiculousness. I wish somebody had bout a hat that cost a couple bucks to keep this idiot from being conceived. (a lil too harsh but …..hey)
^^^ Ha ha ha funny
I think this hat guy has got a point. At least he knows how to write and knows a bit about punctuation, something of which you people have no idea. Furthermore, I think his blog is a good idea, it just need more development.
Hats: Serious business.
wow people kill me when they start talking about correct writing like somebody has to be 100% proofread on a blog comment
another missed opportunity of that couple of dollars hat not being used at the right time. puncuate that!
