ps3slim

The SONY PS3 Slim hits stores this September.  The new and improved PS3 features a 120Gb HDD, it’s lighter, smaller and uses less power than the standard PS3.

We feel bad for you guys that have the original…… LOL!

Looks nice…wouldn’t mind getting this one. How much is it? Seeing that there’s alot less material it must cost less surely…surely? Is anyone else in here?

Sir Jason does some research…

I have been following this for sometimes now and i will say this; if you have the old system u r better off than this new one. why?
#1 in this system, u only have 2 usb ports instead of 4 like the old one.

#2 u cannot install other OS like u could on the old one.

#3 they still weigh about the same

#4 the touch sensitive power and eject buttons were replaced with regular buttons

#5 all the memory card readers have been taken out.

#6 there is no glossy finish.

sorry but i am sticking with the one i have which can still play my ps 1 and 2 games.

If you’re gonna give cons, give pros

-It has 120gb of storage (the other one only had 80gb)
-It’s nearly 40% lighter
-It’s more energy efficient (reducing consumption by 2/3)
-It can be stood horizontally (like the PS2)
-The hard drive was moved to the front for easier access

And most importantly the new one and the old one will now be the exact same price ($299) so its really up to the consumer cux you’re spending the same amount either way

hey wood this is not a matter of focusing on the cons.

first of all, the older version did come with 120GB and 160GB, and u will see the prices of these system drop much lower than the slim; so ure statement of only 80GB is totally false. secondy, they are not that much lighter trust me and as for them being more energy efficient, that will only result to producing more heat due to lak of proper ventilation. just look at the ps2. my current ps3 has been in an horizontal position since the first day i bought it, so that statement there is also false. in addition, the HDD is placed underneath the system so that statement u made about it being moved to the from is also untrue.

I am a big sony fanatic and i own a sony psp, ps2, sony tv, and a sony DSC-T200, but when they make a product which is suppose to better than the previous, then do it right. dont get me wrong it is good looking on the outside but it is not better than the older ps3.

Relax fanatic I got all of that info from a review of the conference that the slim was premiered at. The older version had an 80 and and a 160gb version, the 160 was a 100 bucks more, while the 80 is priced in line with the new one (which is why I detailed that one)

The price for the old 80gb is now 299 which will be the price of the new slim. The price was reduced immediately when announcements were made. Again, the 80gb and the slim are 299 so pick your poison, but relax on killing it for anybody who mightve wanted to get the new slimmer version

I feel you though I got the 80gb yesterday…the biggest feature for me is the retroactive gaming. I can’t make all my old games obsolete for a new version

i am not killing it for no one. they r just better informed consumers now…lol

My “old” PS3 80gb works just fine! The blu-ray is off the hook and it has NEVER died on me like the cheap ass 360! And i have hundreads of songs, movies, and games downloaded on the hard disk and have plenty room still left. Best $400 bucks i ever spent!

I own a PS3 (80GB) and mine does not play PS2 games, only PS1 games. If you have the 1st edition’s of the PS3 (4 instance the 60GB) then you can play both PS1 and 2 games. I’m considerin’ gettin’ the slim (and givin’ my current 1 2 some1 in my family) but I’m a wait 4 it 2 drop and see whut the reviews say.
