Laura Wasser – Kelis’ divorce lawyer has submitted both Nas and Kelis’ monthly earnings to the court today to secure child support and spousal support from the rapper. According to TMZ.com this is what was submitted:
– Nas pulls in $244,826 a month
– Kelis rakes in a relatively paltry $13,744 a month
– Kelis should get child support totaling $17,225 a month
– Kelis should get spousal support totaling $72,728
– Nas should pay retro child support totaling $29,522
– Nas should pay retro spousal support totaling $281,571

this sorta spousal demands are what makes fathers grow resentfull of their children bcos they start to see the child as nuthing but a permanent hole in their pockets . there is no reason a child needs that much money per month .niot even if he had three nannies and a butler.
If I get the numbers right – $244,826 a month earnings (probably before taxes, not after) – $17,225 – $72,728 =
$154873 (if this number is not after taxes then $72728 at a 40% tax rate of which could actually be higher)
So conservitavely, he now pulls in 70K a month of which isn’t bad, but Kelis gets the better deal because her earnings plus the spousal support and child supper means that she gets paid more a month that he does (and she don’t have to work ever… or at least until spousal support ends, when ever that is)

I don’t get the way the law is set up, if both parties have enough money to sustain the child on their own, why is there need for paying ANY type of support? And if the parents have 50/50 custody of the child neither party should have to pay child support.
