For his Spring 2010 collection – Ralph Lauren featured “Overalls” pictured above, and noted that they are back in style. Here is his statement:
“I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies living authentically through challenging times,” he said in his program notes. “I have always admired the honesty of their work wear-the weathered jean, the sturdy overall, the jean jacket, the faded blue work shirt, the naive print of a floral dress.”

I saw them in person at my local Ralph Lauren store the day before their trunk show. I lust after them. Too expensive for me right now….bought some Dickies and will try to creatively make them look similar!

Saw the ad in this week’s NYT Style magazine. My grandfather would have been embarrassed to wear that to the fields, and he was a tenant farmer during the Great Depression. Is this look a message to Obama about our future?

I am an organic farmer and have worn overalls for over 40 years…and I have “another closet” with some Gucci heels and a knit black/white striped skirt by BCBG and…-get the picture? Fashion is learning to walk thru the veil-and come back again to everyday life…the real stuff….LOVE the worn bib overalls-I have never stopped wearing them…..and never will…(and that old Chanel scarve I have……)
