no one is ignoring what happened. Yes it is a stigma that he has to live with for the rest of his life. What makes you think that I have not been in such situation where someone hit a female member of my family? I cannot go around and say I hate the person for what they did for the rest of my life. I forgave them but at the same time, I am cautious of them. Chris made a mistake. He is a young cat so why cant we just forgive him and move on? and besides if he was as big of a star as he is now, you and I will not pay as much attention to what happened as we r doing now. so how come u did not address the R.kelly issue? Please practice what you preach as christians and stop passing judgement on this young boy.

Honestly people need to chill out. It was a mistake that he wish he could of taken back if he could, who wouldn’t in his situation? He was losing millions in endorsements, no radio play, being grilled by everyone in the world and most of all losing Rihanna. I know that it was his fault for hitting her and what happened was terrible but come on now. A person can’t be overshadowed by one bad thing they did and if so that’s really f*cked up. People deserve second chances to prove what they did was a mistake and they are changing for the better. Imagine how you would feel if no one gave you a second chance, when you know you are a changed person. I’m not saying Chris is a changed person but give him a chance to prove what he’s worth.

Christians believe that sparing the rod will spoil a child. There’s a difference between ignoring and forgiving. I wonder how forgiving would you be of a man who beat and bruised your daughter, sister, aunt, mother, etc. I see why our community has so many debilitating social issues, because ignoring them seems to be the most common way we deal with them.

my prediction is that this kid is gonna sell millions when he releases an album and there is nothing any of you can do about it. Sweetie its about accountability. Some people are too willing to give a pass without making sure that the lesson has been learned, which often leads to bigger trouble and more sever fuck ups. Yes, Chris needs to be made to fully understand the severity of his actions. That can’t be done if we’re babying him, excusing him and pretending as if he did nothing worng. That’s why when the courts get a hold of our kids they throw the book at them becuase there is no other accountability being taught anywhere else.

Before we used to get arrested and jailed for being black and standing up for our rights, so we defended that. Now, we do all sorts of stupid sh*t, knowing that momma and everybody else is going to cry in our defense. We as blk people have strayed from our morals. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t support CB – he just has to earn it first and that is hard when everybody else has forgiven you before you even show any remorse, humility or responsibility for uor actions.

Is he supposed to run in a hole and hide because of the altercation with Rihanna? Should he stop singing? Should he stop trying to support his family and make money? Should he stop living? He was born to perform and regardless of the opinions, I think he will continue doing that. I’m sure we’ve all sinned once or thrice in our lives, but we kept it moving right? Give the man another chance.
