She is taking responsibility for others.. good.. but. she needs to take responsibility for her part… address the factor that women should not act like a beast as well. then, will it but justifiable… Chris is taking the higher road in the sense of not speaking on her behalf… hopefully she will do the same.. otherwise… she will not be set free.

i agree w/ that too! She should put a disclosure in there saying “Don’t go around provoking men.” That is a big issue never talked about in DV cases.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting for any woman to be blaming Rihanna for the beat down that she received from Chris. I wonder how many of you would stand by this logic if you were at the other end of a mans fist.

Jai_Pure 11/05/2009 at 10:25 AM

the sad thing is… a lot of women actually endure the pain of abuse. but i dont blame them… its insecurity in a way. think about this… rihanna didnt call the cops on him… and she went back after it happened. yes she said its done now but don’t you wonder if their secret wasnt exposed if they would still be together… and would the abuse still be going on?
abuse in any way is hard to walk away from.

@ anonymous 11/05/2009 at 10:48 AM

You probably never recieved therapy for the abuse your mother endured. Becuase no one in their right mind can justify a strong man beating down a woman. To suggest that she was out of line speaks volumes as to state of your self-esteem and moral value system.

Anonymous 11/05/2009 at 11:00 AM

this is at @ anonymous… who ever exuberates negativity.. has no justification… sorry kat… I’m blessed… I wish you well as well… and never did I say what he did was right… I said… she needs to take responsibility as well.. because clearly she is using this to market herself… know the business… its very intriguing… spck

shaemechelle 11/05/2009 at 12:31 PM

um excuse me but what i was taught growing up was, don’t hit nobody unless u want them to hit u back! I’m not condoning Chris’ actions at all, but im not gonna sit here and say that he wasn’t provoked. We don’t know how volatile their relationship was and I have seen first hand females hitting me, cursing them out, slapping em up, and degrading them in the midst of arguments.

I feel like everyone always needs to take repsonsibility for their OWN actions. If you can remove your own actions from a situation and the problem no longer exists, you could have very well been the cause of the problem. I’m not saying that happened in this situation, but please don’t be so naive to think that everything is always one-sided.

I felt like she was REAL in her interview, versus Chris’s Larry King Interview. I’m glad she is trying to not send the wrong messages to other little girls! :)

Men should be able to control themselves and not go around using their fists to release frustration and anger. I can’t even believe that in this day and age people are still blaming women for getting beaten, or using the behaviour that led up to the altercation as a justification for what happened. He’s a grown man not a 2 year old child, he should have control over his own temper by now! Maybe Chris should have thought about ‘getting in her face’, screaming, shouting, etc, instead of using his FISTS and causing visible damage. And you talk about Chris taking the high road?? The only thing he has done is try to save face. His interview on Larry King was all about how he couldn’t believe what he did, how it was so out of character, how he felt ashamed, as if he’s the victim!!! I’m not saying Rhianna didn’t provoke the situation, she probably did, but that does no justify, excuse or make what he did right. No woman deserves to be beaten. Chris needs to sort out whatever anger issues he has and take full responsibility for his anger issues and stop playing the victim, because he’s not!

even if provoked does that really justify abuse? you can be strong and get your point across without hitting someone…. i learned that in first grade. she did say the more in love they became… the more dangerous they were for each other. so i guess in a way shes accepting part of the blame. but lets be honest. how would it have looked if she went and said i was partly to blame for his abuse… it would have undermined the message she is trying to send, which i think was abuse is never okay.
i wish them both closure and success

Reply

Get Ya Mind Right! 11/05/2009 at 11:08 AM

I never claimed to be perfect. However, I am a law abiding citizen who believes in tough love. And under these circumstances I’m simply not willing to give Chris Brown a pass for beating up a girl. I have a greater responsibility to my daughter and nieces and can NEVER send them a message that it’s ever ok for a man to hit a woman. The media has nothing to do with my stance. The media would have absolutely nothing to sensationalize if Chris would have had self control. He was wrong! point blank! and I refuse to lower my moral standards and defend him.

Well great… I prefer to buy his album and see his talent do well.. because forgiveness is essential to morals… than see him turn to another statistic… my son being part black… and having plenty of nieces of my own who can be wise and not selfish.

Anonymous 11/05/2009 at 11:13 AM

law abiding to what? lmao… hilarious… have a blessed day… lmao.

Get Ya Mind Right! 11/05/2009 at 11:28 AM

Umm domestic violence is a crime, and I abide by the laws set before me by my governing state and nation. Forgiveness has nothing to do with accountability. Allowing him to get off easy will turn him into a statistic quicker than anything else. You can do what you want in your home. But in my home, I’m going to do my best to raise my daughter with the highest of esteem and standards by setting a good example of what is and isn’t acceptable so that she isn’t afraid to be the very best and demand the very best for herself. You have a blessed day as well.

i just don’t know what else you expected her to say. remember it’s her life. yeah she’s famous but she still deserves some privacy. and this is a very private situation that she was forced to live out in the public… i think her poise during the interview was great. and celebrity aside she did say a lot and addressed the issue in a honest way. at least it felt honest and pure. and thats all one should expect as one looks into the fish bowl called her life…

There is nothing that can justify Chris for beating Rihanna BUT NO woman can think that it’s right to hit any man at anytime. Women like to slap men around and be surprised that one time they get slapped back and try to call the police and play victim. I saw it all the time in college. Yes Chris is and will always be dead wrong but Rihanna has a lesson to learn from the situation as well. As far as mentoring little girls someone should’ve stopped Rihanna when she made this song Breaking Dishes:

Now I ain’t tripping ah, I ain’t twisting ah
I ain’t demented ah! well just a lil bit, ah
I’m kicking asses, I’m taking names
I’m on flame don’t come home babe

I’m breaking dishes up in here
All night (Oh-oh)
I ain’t go stop until I see police lights (Oh-oh)
I’m a fight a man (tonight)
I’m a fight a man (tonight)
I’m a fight a man
A man, a man, a ma-a-a-an
A man, a man, a ma-a-a-an

She’s been glorifying women hitting men to young girls for the past year or so and now they want her to stand up for domestic violence. Which one is it? It’s cool to beat men but not get beat or everyone keep their hands off of each other?

Reply

Anonymous 11/05/2009 at 10:38 AM

I agree… keep your hands off.. even if it is just play… if you can’t take it playfully, you shouldn’t do it at all… in other news… anger is the issue… jealousy… all these things which feed negative energy… These are the things that need to be addressed for the younger folks… older folks will be difficult to submit to a better culture but the youth is everyones’ responsibility.

Thank u fools gold. She needs to take the stance of hit people and u can get hit back-keep ur hands to urself. Im not feeling the whole”ima stand up for women of domestic violence”. I think taking that stance when u were not in a “typical” DM situation trivializes the situations that women face in this in their everyday lives.

Reply

Jai_Pure 11/05/2009 at 11:03 AM

i dont think she chose her role… and what is a “typical” domestic violence situation?

Reply

Sugar & Spice 11/05/2009 at 11:45 AM

I use the word “typical” loosely. Mayb “standard” is better. Usually there is a man hitting a woman for no reason. There is NO reason to hit a woman but this is what i define as a typical DM situation. NOW-if I smack my boyfriend/husband around when he says/does something that I dont like & one day he hits me back-shall I now run to the police or whoever & be the poster child/victim of domestic violence?-NO!!!! And this is what i see from this situation. Again just what

Jai_Pure 11/05/2009 at 1:22 PM

i get you, supposedly she was abusive to him too… so therefore, she isn’t the victim?
i see your point. it isn’t fair if that is the case. but life isn’t fair. whats the proverb if we all go around enforcing an eye for an eye we would all be blind…
violence is never the answer. scream, shout, call each other names but take a break when one feels its time to let the fist do the talking.

Shell bell 11/05/2009 at 10:48 AM

Did I miss something, why does everyone think that she provoked him? AND if she did who gives a shit Rule number one that every boy learns do not put your hands on a woman. Yes a woman should know her boundaries and so should a man, but again we were not in the car or in their relationship so why do people believe she provoked him (i ask again)?

In other news I hope Chris enjoyed his success for the last two weeks cause it is DONE now after the full interview comes out.

Fool's Gold 11/05/2009 at 10:57 AM

@Shell Bell

Of course our main source is the media but after the whole incident because public “people” that had been around them said that there were incidents where she slapped him and he pushed her in a parking lot then and about another physical altercation happening between them as to say they were both physical towards each other but this was the worst incident. That’s where it comes from.

I would have beat the fuck out of her too if she put her hands on me. I think it’s fucked up that women think they can go around doing what they please and not face repurcushion…Fuck that…I think the new generations of men to come will be beating women down on the regular for getting out of pocket and I think that needs to happen. Women need to evolve and realize that times have changed and just like you can now vote, get an education and play a dominant role in the workplace, you can also get popped in the mouth for trying to break bad on a nigga.

I don’t care if it’s your daughter, sister, mother or grandmother. If they get outta line and start hitting a nigga- I’m gonna put it on them. And if a man in their family has a problem with it, he can come get it too. While domestic violence can have many variables at the core, I feel that the physical aspect of it IS black and white and as simplistic as it gets. Don’t use your hands if you don’t want the next person to use theirs.

For people who keep saying a man can do more damage to a woman there have been plenty of men killed at the hands of women…i don’t condone fighting in a relationship but I don’t think if some girl was beating on my son that he shouldn’t defend himself-restrain without hurting her but if he feels as though she could cause her harm by all means defend yourself…anyway I have never appreciated Rihanna and this doesn’t help-who cares about those on here who want to call me crazy cuz I live in the real world-KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!

Here is a thought: Chris could have pull the car over and walked away , Filed a police report, requested a restraining order or something of the sort. But no he made the decision to be a Mad man and responded by beating her to a pulp. For his actions he have to take what he gets, in both the court of public opinion and in the court of Law. To go a step further he pleaded guilty. That alone should say something to some of you. He had one of the best lawyers money can buy and he still pleady guilty. For crying out loud Michael jackson pleady not guilty , Scott Peterson plead not guilty. Why didn’t chris fight for his life if he new he was innocent . Something tells me there is alot of the story we would never really know about or see like the rest of those Pictures of Rihanna face and his Injuries. This is Just my food for thought.

What I don’t get is that people are forgetting past celebrities who have been in domestic violence situations. Tina Turner, Pamela Anderson, Tammy Wynette, and a slew of others who were mega stars in their day but this situation have been brought to the forfront because of RiRi and Chris. How many Ricky Lake, Sally Jessie, and Morey shows have depicited victims of domestic violence and the media hasn’t put a spotlight to those nameless faces of domestic abuse. Domestic violence occurs between men on women, women on men, men on men, and women on women. Any case it’s all wrong period! Men should not hit on women and vice versa. No party is correct in defending the other. I think all individuals should be held accountable for their own actions. Trying to defend the cause and affect when the situation shouldn’t happen period is clearly not justifiable on both accounts. Understanding domestic violence takes place in all races, sexual orientations (gay, straight, and bi), and all social and economical demographics is the underlying point. Domestic violence is not justifiable on any count. Jesus always taught us to forgive others who have done wrong to us. I know it’s hard but forgiveness does set you free, but remembering the circumstances that brought you to the point of the incident should be a major factor to let things go! Remember love doesn’t suppose to hurt you physically or emotionally. Abuse is abuse be it mental or physical! In saying that only RiRi can forgive the situation, not us because we weren’t the ones being abused. They both know they must speak to the media to make a public ammends but at the end of the day followers can’t be leaders. We must all lead by own example. By the way, why are we only taking about them when many women in different cultures all over the world experience this type of abuse everyday?

Why must celebrities make us aware of these problems which have been occuring since the begining of time? Shouldn’t we take ownership of our own problems and find solutions to help and encourage those to avoid plights of domestic violence? It all starts at home! You only accept things that were presented to you as a child. It’s up to every person to know right from wrong and make needed changes in their own lives first before we critize others for their situations! We must hold the mirror up to ourselves and take accountablity first and formost!

Fact Is.. 11/05/2009 at 3:48 PM

Like it or not American celebrities are living examples that the public looks up to, emulates, and follows. The Chris and Rihanna story is such big news because of their ages, innocent images, and the fact that they are both super stars. Forgiveness comes with time. Some people are willing to forgive him immediately, some will eventually, and some will never.

Everyone keeps saying her role in the situation. Where is the proof that she hit him? I didnt see any bruises on Chris. oops I apologize I did the bruises on his knuckles from beating her face in. This whole situation shows how the ideas of domestic abuse are so backwards. The sad thing is that these are young people with these opinions. I would chalk it up to old age but some of you are under 30. A MESS!!!

So she “provoked” him as some of you say. You lose you got beat by a girl you win you still beat up a girl. your still a loser. Get some self esteem ladies.

As for a publicity stunt Chris has been up and down with his half ass interviews for months jumping in music videos and jet skiing and the only time the victim speaks out she is doing it for a stunt. Yes she has an album coming out so this is the only time she has to speak about. She cant promote the album without answering these questions. Its best that she puts it to bed now so she can go on with her career.

Some of you are so sad.

I totally agree. People seem to think that they had a fair fight and she lost. (as if there is any such thing as a fair fight between a man and a woman) Reading these comments was a horrible reality that I was not ready for.

@NiNi So she “provoked” him as some of you say. You lose you got beat by a girl you win you still beat up a girl. your still a loser. Get some self esteem ladies.

What?! Forget Chris AND Rihanna. If we feel that a woman beating on a man is wrong then we have self-esteem issues? Every little boy was told to not hit women and every child SHOULD’VE been taught that if they wanna throw hands they have to be prepared to lose. Men should have the common sense to realize they need to be a better man in these situation but common sense IS NOT common. No man should beat a woman down period BUT is it right to let females think it’s okay and justified to hit a man because he’s not SUPPOSED to hit you back? If you’re gonna hit a grown ass man you better be prepared to fight like a grown ass man; period.

@ Fool’s Gold

Good try homey, but it is still a crime for a man to hit and bruise a woman. Chris didn’t have any bruises, Rihanna did. And Chris should pay, just like any other man who beats a woman.

@ Gerry

This is what’s killing me; who said he shouldn’t pay? I never said he wasn’t wrong or that he shouldn’t be punished. I ALSO said forget Rihanna and Chris so I was talking about any couple who likes to hit each other. Anyone who hits anyone should be punished. Is it a “whoever gets beat the worst” kinda thing or is wrong simply wrong? As far as crimes are concerned there are laws that cover all areas domestic volience because it is not always one sided. I’m not taking up for Chris; I could care less what happens to either one of them but I have a lesbian aunt who’s in a voilent relationship, there was a girl in my college dorm that beat her boyfriend and he took the ‘high road’, and there was an instance where a man drug his girls down a three flights of steps, put her in a leg lock, and beat her head in until he got jumped. NO ONE SHOULD HIT ANYONE AT ANY TIME AND NOT BE PREPARED TO FIGHT.

I think he should live his life according to what everyone who has nothing to do with his life thinks he should do. For all those who say “he should pay & its not enough”, Chris Brown should take the time out of his life to find out what every single person thinks he should do & make that his life mission. There is no reason for him to try to continue to do what he does best & what supports him/his family anymore until everyone is satisfied & feels its ok for him to move on with his life

I personally welcome violent women into my world… After 2 weeks of receiving constant beatings, they usually realize their place in this world.

Once again where is the proof that Chris was beaten by Rihanna. Where are the pictures where are chris’s scars? A women should never hit a man and vice versa but how quick we are to say that she hit him looking for an excuse to justify chris’s actions. I know its hard to believe that you precious child star beat down a female but he did. The proof is in front of your face. Until you find the proof that Rihanna beat up chris then it did not happen.

Chris should thank the father up above that he is not in jail because he is a criminal period!!

how horrid you people are for saying its her fault. women aren’t built stronger than men. people have fights especially in relationships and men should know how to control their anger at least when it comes to abuse. u guys make it seem like she was punching his face and all sorts of stuff here, yeah she might have provoked him but i really doubt it was in any form like that. either way. i thought the segment shown was her taking responsibility. yeah she went back but how many times have you been with someone you didnt think you could ever be without but knew it was better for you, you might wanna go back no matter how hard the circumstances are but it takes a while to finally listen to your brain instead of your heart. like she said…love is blind. i know it might be hard for her to battle with this and especially talk about it so the whole world can see but i think she is a strong women and will only continue to grow…

Some of you here are too stupid. I strongly believe that CB is sneaky & Evil, he is not innocent in this shit neither is Rihanna. However CB is being real strategic, and smart to doing the reverse thing on Rihanna. He never said anything because he has those pictures of his injuries which he would use to his advantage when the time is right. He was waiting to see what moves she makes, and then he would use all the support groups, friends and you fools to his advantage. He is the abuser in this relationship and his good looks along with his talent will get him far. However Rihanna always had the disadvantage, According to some of you guys she is perceived as a low life from the islands which = Immigrant and we all know how Americans hate foreigners. To top it off she made it big and left the majority of your pure breeds in the music industry behind. Then one of your shinning stars fall in love with her and now this happen. Some of you would say that I am Rihanna fan but I’m not. But the hate I see and reading on theses sites any fool with compassion and sense could tell where the hate is coming from. Instead of helping these two kids you folks are taking sides. This is going to get even uglier if common sense doesn’t prevail soon, and American people in the whole will be perceive once again as the Idiot race mark my words.
