Disney Pictures’ A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey landed at #1 for the weekend box office earning $31 Million dollars. Movie execs are calling the opening weak since the cost to make the film was around $200 Million bucks. Precious the Lee Daniels film only made $1.8 Million its opening week, but was only in 18 theaters across the nation – setting a limited edition release record. Lionsgate plans to put a full campaign together and release the film in more theaters in the coming weeks.

GREAT MOVIE!!!! ….. Full of emotion and I justl ike the rest of black america knows someone like Monique’s character and Precious. A MUST SEE!!!!
Yes it did make 1.8, but saying ONLY 1.8 is dumb and shows your lack of knowledge in the film industry. It was in a limited 18 theaters which means it made an avrg of 100k per location which means it had sold out shows all weekend this is record breaking. Please give the film its credit – it is called an indie film. Indie films do small roll outs.
What a retard. Can you read? The article clearly said it set a limited release record!
Your moms is a retard Anonymous hahahah.

It appears the info you are referring to was indeed given, so what exactly is your complaint Shell bell? the “only 1.8 million” comment was in relation to the aforementioned 31 million, which was also referred to as a relative under-performance…
i saw Precious. Boy was that a good movie but i get so caught up I end up taking the issues home with me. I had bad dreams last night!
I really hope they bring it to more theaters because the closest one to me is 2 hrs away

Yea, i checked it out and the closest one is still two hrs away. They need to release it nationwide. I’m sure a lot of people would rather see this than some of the other movies that are out now like Astroboy and Cirque du Freak.
