As promotion for their new Regza SV LCD HDTV the folks at Toshiba took a page out of Justin Lee and Oliver Yeh’s book and rigged a chair with a helium balloon and some cameras letting it sail up up and away until it enters space. The chair eventually breaks with the pieces flying back to earth…hopefully in lands in the dessert where they launched it from.

Love the ad but you can see the strings holding up the chair. Rookie mistake.

the point is that its attached to a helium balloon it isnt magic. i dont think are trying to hide the fact that in order to attach the chair to a balloon there needs to be some strings involved.

soooooooo……..if i had a big enough balloon and enough helium i could float to space????!!!
