The episode parodies that scenario clumsily and because of the incident's real life consequences (career-ruining shitstorm), it seems too close to home and fails to hit the mark comedy-wise. It goes to show that Larry David, while a great comedy writer, does have his limitations; although for that matter I doubt anyone could have possibly handled it much better.
