The New Oxford American Dictionary has selected the word “Unfriend” which refers to people getting rid of a ‘friend’ on a social networking site such as Facebook as the most popular word of the year.
Other honorable mentions on the list include ’sexting’ which refers to sending sexually explicit texts and pictures by cellphone, ‘birther’ which refers to conspiracy theorist who challenge President Obama’s birth certificate and ‘tramp stamp’ which refers to a tattoo on the lower back, usually on a woman.
