Susan Boyle moved another impressive 527,345 units of her I Dreamed A Dream album – bringing her two week total to 1.2 Million sold and helping her hold down the top slot on the charts for the second straight week. Why is she selling better than your favorite artist?

her targt audience is the older folks who dont know how to download an album for free….
if she was targetting young adult demographic she wouldnt be moving that much units…

She’s clearly appealing more than just the computer-phobic elderly. She’s sold 1.2 mill in 2 weeks! There are tons of people of ALL ages who were looking forward to this album. Chick is selling music, not ass, not clothes, not a look and people are responding to it. I think her success is a great look for artists.
exactly falalal peeple swear mature people dont know about ipods n stuff, bottom line is Susan is super talented with a great heart and spirit, people love her and want real talent to shine. Alotta people buy Taylor Swifts cd and she has a young fanbase for the most part, so thats not an excuses. The cd no matter what is still the best format. Alot of people love Susan . Her talent her story and her spirit won people over. And she so deserves it! CONGRATS SUSAN !!!!!!!!! Plus she’s new and fresh !
& honestly people buy more singles than they do albums on itunes anyway !
I find it funny because I go to college in one of the whitest states, Iowa.
I have never heard a song on the radio by her. I still don’t know what single she has. It may be because I’m black but, we don’t have a primarily black station anywhere near this state. I didn’t even know she had a cd coming. None of my friends no her for her music. We all know her from the ugly lady off that one show. (rude I know)
But she must be talented (or unique) if someone is buying her music.
I still stick by my original thought her target has the money to buy the album. And as for T Swift… her target’s parents still buy them cds. I could be completely wrong but those are my thoughts.
But no, I didn’t buy the album.
Its because of TALENT! Pure talent. No gimmicks, no nipple pasties, no crazy hair just talent.

I agree with everyone here; all of the factors mentioned have led to the success of her album. her originality, her talent, her target audience, and her worldwide marketing through the media and youtube. Susan Boyle’s story is inspiring, and in 30 years from now, she is going to be recognized as a legend in the music industry. Perhaps some people bought the album just to be a part of this history!
In the end people want great music when you put aside all the marketing…the lady can sing…

I have to say I have never heard her music or story. Whats the deal with this amazing story that everyone talks about? What did she do that was so amazing? Is her music really all that hot, or are people just ready for somethng different!
Everytime something different out of the ordinary comes out, people just jump on the bandwagon! I am not judging because I don’t know her story or her music, but most artist always have some crazy story about their life and claim to fame!
I wish her well, and I am going to do a little more research about her and her music!

Susan is a hot commodity right now because people love the underdog and the sad story that usually accompanies….just like in the movies. There’s no denying that she’s talented but I would call her a one hit wonder. I can almost guarantee that her 2nd cd will definitely flop.
Who care about her 2nd cd? By X’mas end, she made 10s of millions all over the world. Susan Boyle sell that many CD is because of Simon Cowell.

Yes hun, a ONE HIT WONDER. Hate to bust your bubble precious, but real raw talent doesn’t sell records these days. If she didn’t have a sad story and constant mental breakdowns she would have been long forgotten. People pitty this woman and the fact that she’s talented gives them a good excuse to buy her cd this time around. I’ll bet YOUR life that the next cd will flop harder than a salmon on a dry deck.
