We feel it is only right for Jay-Z to be recognized as our Musician Of The Year for his whirlwind year in music in 2009. With the release of his 11th studio album The Blueprint 3 – Jay-Z reminded us all why he is the best rapper alive. In June, Jay-Z released “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” advising his peers to take it back to the art form of music and stop relying on the hugely popular auto tune sound, he also guided Rihanna back to the spotlight by featuring her and Kanye West on the smash single “Run This Town” which had everyone talking (the.LIFE Files debuted the video stills). To top it off – “Empire State” feat. Alicia Keys – an ode to New York City solidified the Blueprint 3 album as another classic record, one that Jay-Z’s fans seemed skeptical about earlier on. The album is approaching sales of 1.5 Million records in the US alone and growing rapidly. We also saw Jay-Z’s media coverage expand with worldwide coverage on global media outlets through Europe and Asia with a slew of performances and guest appearances – most recently with the Teriyaki Boyz.
Honorable mention has to go to Susan Boyle for breaking barriers no one thought she could ever achieve from a reality show, but……
