the.LIFE Files Entertainer Of The Year: Lady Gaga!

gaga

We were a bit hesitant to Lady Gaga when we first heard her music and saw her over-the-top sense of fashion, but we kept following her for some reason.  After really paying attention to “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” – her two cross over international singles released in a joint label deal with Akon’s Kon Live Distribution and Interscope records it all started to make sense.  Both singles birthed The Fame album which catapulted Lady Gaga into a megastar almost overnight with accolades starting to pour in from all over the globe.  Gaga also became a triple threat by her unusual sense of fashion which almost usually consisted of bare legs and futuristic hairstyles, which we have enjoyed covering here at the.LIFE Files.

After appearing on Saturday Night Live with Madonna for a skit, being named one of Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 and collaborating with Beyonce in the video and on the song for “Video Phone” and the re-release of her album – The Fame Monster featuring the smash single “Bad Romance,” it seems like the sky is the limit for Lady Gaga.  The star has sold over 12 Million records and singles around the globe in just 2 years.

Honorable mention also goes to Mr. Kanye West who kept us entertained this year through his music, antics, blogging and the Taylor Swift incident.

I think you hit this one right on the head. She had more impact than any other entertainer this year. Her music, her visuals, fashion, songs, voice, piano playing, interviews, and photos had everyone talking about her. My father is a conservative 72 year old and even he has been asking me about Lady Gaga, especially after she performed for the Queen of England and got a shout out from President Obama. It’s very hard in this day and age to hold the attention of pop culture. She seems to be doing something right. Plus her new songs are the business.

But, I must give a shout out to Beyonce! She’s would have been it for me if Single Ladies had come out this year. Her Tour was exceptional, a real tour de force of beauty, singing, dancing and showmanship. Her VMA performance was the most exciting, her Inauguration Performances will be legendary, she had the #1 movie in america, showed true acting ability in Cadillac Records, received 10 Grammy nominations, is a genuine female role model who manages to entertain without scandal and vulgarity, and seems like a really nice person. She showed up on songs with Gaga and Alicia keys and proved to be vocally superior to both of them. Plus HALO was my song of the year.

Anyway. That’s my 2 cents.

A+ I truly co-sign they both can share it. But what is so amazing about Ga-Ga is that she came up out of nowhere and just became this phenomenon. She has done alot already in such little time. She has alot to be proud of. See what happens when u dare to be different and step outside the norm. She grabs ur attention bcuz she is that different. By the way Beyonce should have been on Barbara Walter’s list for most fascinating people also. Beyonce works very very hard.

kinda disappointed with your decision the.life, yea her interviews had me talkin, but also wondering if she’s not crazy(in a bad way), her songs are ok, fun and good for parties but nothing o-m-g special. Although laughing my ass of at her every time i see ‘video phone’ is truly priceless xD
i absolutely agree with AtrueLifer on the beyonce part. I would definately choose her as the entertainer of the year, without a doubt. Her live performances are the best ones we’ve seen since Michael’s, seriously. She’s professional, she’s working her a$$ off, always making lot of music, and so many videos, which i love! And she’s rockin the business for how many years now? Gaga, well i wish her all the best, but she doesnt seem like a long-runner to me. Not a one-hit wonder definately, but not a 15yr long career either. And yea Single Ladies, i mean c’moon. And personally, if i ever get married im seriously thinking bout Halo as my wedding song ;D

i agree… entertainer of the year is lady gaga for sure. she’s the hardest working musician out there… she strives to be the most different in every field: fashion, music, personality, performances, vocals… EVERYTHING! she also makes sure to just be seen exactly for what she is: a musician/performer. she doesnt try to be taken too seriously, doesnt open her mouth about anything politics or controversial. she is liked by the gays, the young, the old, the rockers, the rappers… everyone! she worked hard for this… well deserved.

Gaga deserves entertainer of the year. There’s no denying that Beyonce is a hardworking woman who’s very skilled at her craft. But she didn’t bring anything new or innovative to the table this year. Gaga has been very entertaining and able to stand out in a Beyonce dominated industry. Plus she’s an actual musician and who can really sing. Her “WOW” factor definitely out weighs Bey’s, who for lack of a better term has become a bit redundant and over exposed.

u make a good point, but when Beyonce’s entertains she lights it up, she needs nothing but her, while i do feel like Gaga is a good entertainer to me she needs props and crazy fashion and etc to sometimes pull it off, altho i’m not taking anything away from !

I just can’t recall anything outstanding that Bey has done this year to qualify her for the entertainer of the year title. Gaga is theatrical and over the top but props aside she’s also a talented aritst who made a lil more noise than Beyonce did this year. Beyonce has no shortage of awards, accolaids, and supporters so Gaga getting this one title is no threat to the Beyonce empire at all.
