Moments ago in San Francisco the Apple CEO unveiled his highly anticipated device that’s supposed to change media the way we know it, he’s already called it one of his most important projects EVER! The new device to add to your Mac empire gives you access to Apple’s just announced iBooks store, HD-TV capability, an internet browser, an onscreen keyboard and only one button on the entire face of it – it’s like a giant iPhone the size of your computer keyboard.

It’s a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display, and it’s running a custom 1GHz Apple “A4″ chip developed by the P.A. Semi team, with a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby. It’ll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes, and it’s got the expected connectivity: very little. There’s a 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, and 802.11n WiFi, as well as an accelerometer and a compass. As expected, it can run iPhone apps…

One of the other gadget websites is saying that it will be more like a giant iTouch, rather than a touchscreen laptop. And the price will be anywhere from $500-2,000.

I like it, it’s hot but I don’t really know what I’m going to do with except maybe browse while I’m on the toilet. IMO, they just needed to make a cheaper Mac Air with a spin around screen to turn it into a tablet. I don’t really need another device I need an “all in one device.”
What I need is an iMac that I can pop out the screen and walk around or sit on the coach it’ll do whatever this does around the house then when I’m going out I can pop it into a laptop chassis and use it as a laptop as well, or just pop out the screen and read the paper while sipping on some latte at Starbucks. Now that’s a technological breakthrough!

for $1000 flat it can be yours. slide it in and it’s a laptop and take it off and it has a different operating system and is a touch screen tablet.
that’s the funny thing about the press – we rely on them for information yet a device like this – a breakthrough as you call it – has no buzz at all.

Huge DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Nothing new, No Adobe Flash Support, No Multitasking, no huge storage capacity tops at 64GB’s. No front facing camera, if you want 3G internet you have to pay $130 more??? WTF! I know as usual Apple first version of a product is really crappy but this shit is something else, they went backward not forward with this. When the 3rd version of the iPad comes out then it would be worth buying and especially not at this price starting at $499 and topping $830.
