As we’ve reported, the democratization of fashion will continue when online retailer eBay just begins selling ab exclusive eight-piece limited edition collection in a partnership with American designer, Narciso Rodriguez.
Narciso Rodriguez, ruler on the red carpet and creator of such masterpieces as Caroline Bessette-Kennedy’s wedding gown and Michelle Obama’s black and red election night dress, wants this collection to reach women outside his typical customer base. Typical being the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba and Julianna Margulies. He says, “For me it’s always been about dressing many women of all ages, all types, all sizes, and this special collection on eBay is a unique opportunity to reach a broad global audience. I’m as excited about my eBay collection as I am about the one that will be coming down the runway this fall.”
With this collection, Narciso Rodriguez takes on the “affordable high fashion” challenge that so many designers have attempted with retailers such as H&M and Target. Hopefully the Narciso Rodriguez aesthetic that is critically acclaimed as “sensual, feminine and classic” maintains the fabulous and the fantasy and doesn’t get lost in function.
