yes it is…

Wyclean sounds like a goat got it’s nuts caught in a meat grinder.

Lil Wayne shouldn’t passed on this project and took his ugly self to jail.

This song is about vocals/singing. They should’ve left off the rap shit.

I like this verison 25 yrs later! I was only 3yrs old when the song was first recorded and I use to watch the video over and over again just because I was a MJ stan!!!..lol

Well that was a suckfest.

Something just did not work here. They tried to incorporate too many styles to create a coherent arrangement. They should have done a straight cover, the new voices would have made it different enough from the original. And then, let the rap and autotune set do a couple of remixes and release the whole thing as an EP.

Reply

HNIC 02/13/2010 at 11:54 AM

I understand what you’re saying. But, I think that the whole point of incorporating so many different styles & genres was for the same reasons as having different races, ethnicities & nationalities represented; to display a sense of unity. Hence, “We are the World”. Although, I can agree that a couple of remixes would work well, also, if done correctly.

I wonder if this will motivate black people around the world to start tipping waitresses correctly?

Reply

HNIC 02/13/2010 at 1:32 PM

Yes. We all have hopes & dreams, don’t we, Slipo?

My sincerest hope is that you become mature in your thought processes… or at least learn to be more original with your comments & your screen name selections. But, sadly, I realize that if you were twice as smart, you’d still be stupid.

Slipo 02/13/2010 at 1:37 PM

And how ingenious of you to use the Head Nigga In Charge moniker…bravo oh witty one…bravo.

now shouldn’t you be out tipping someone? Wtf lazy bum.

whoa both of you guys need to hug it out. we are the world. we are one. chill out.

This was gay. First of all, where was the diversity. 90% of the people in this version are black. Not saying thats bad, just a little stupid and irresponsible. If we are the world, incorporate the entire world, not just Africa. Lastly, Akon and Lil Wayne are the biggest wastes of sperm in the entire universe. Lil Wayne is too ignorant to realize the shame of being around LEGENDS like Celine Dion and others, and using autotune for his part. What a walking failure. Akon didn’t need it, and he used it anyway. Lastly, the rapping was gay. Completely uncalled for. Ruined the song, didn’t fit into it at all. This is stupid.

Anti-believer 02/13/2010 at 2:10 PM

Being gay has nothing to do with describing this song YOU ASSHOLE!!!

Also hated Wyclef Jean sounding like an uncaged animal half the time he opened his mouth. They made it seem like the song was centered around him. We know you’re from Haiti Wyclef, we’re past that now. It’s not about you.

Jai_pure 02/13/2010 at 12:00 PM

i can’t stand the screaming from wycelf. it just doesnt do it for me. give him one verse. but hes playing the i am haitian this is my people role so well that they gave him wayy more shine than he deserved. i’m so over him using this tragedy to make himself relevant again.

Reply

Realist 02/13/2010 at 12:08 PM

OH MY GOSH I was just about to address that. He is totally using his people dying as an outlet to get into fame. I also forgot to mention T-Pain. He’s a total fail at this too. They should have just re-released the original. The rappers going “yo-yo-yo” over the outdated backing track was also an extremely low point for myself and other people around the world.

Reply

Jai_pure 02/13/2010 at 12:21 PM

i think what worked in the first version they infused all the greats… this one is missing some very key figures. where is beyonce? where is U2? where is cold play? the irrelevant ppl should have been told thank you but we are serious about raising funds for haiti. shoot where was taylor swift?

Reply

Realist 02/13/2010 at 1:11 PM

Once again, I agree with all of this. It was a very dry line-up. I understand superstars are busy but this is Haiti we are talking about. If they are concerned at all, they would have taken the time. Jay-Z, Christina Aguilera would have been a good voice. Andrea Bocelli. This was such a let down.

If you were any one of those people…would u want to have your name attached to this shytfactory?

Vyck88 02/13/2010 at 12:05 PM

I was kind of dubious in the beginning about whether it was gonna work out/sound good, but I begin to really like it towards the middle to the end. Lil Wayne….Ummmmm….maybe he could have done something different. But the big question is, where was BEYONCE???? One of the biggest stars in the world wasn’t invited or something? This would have sparked up the video with her voice because (to me…only to me) she is like the Michael Jackson of this era than anybody else that’s current.

on a positive note jennifer hudson sounds amazing in the song. actually the song up until the rap was pretty good. thats around the 5:50 mark. very tasteful. very eclectic. during the rap it took a turn to the left. after the rap it was a straight up mess.

Me 02/13/2010 at 12:32 PM

I think the song is great except wyclefs part after the 6:30 mark. brought in great people. it gave me chills… even the rap.

LOL at “the rap gave me chills”. It was a joke.

imo, since his death he’s more alive than for like 10 last yrs of his life. if u know what i mean.

and yea, i loved it!! Yea, i would pick a lil bit different cast, like yea wheretf is jay and beyonce, or at least freakin rihanna, justin, ppl like that. anyways, good art for a good cause, relax.

@ Slipo – Well, at least we’re in agreement that I’m witty. Thanks for noticing!

Not that I owe you any explanations or anything other than the business end of my shoe, if we ever were to meet… but, I will humor you for a moment, by answering your simplistic question. I chose the moniker, HNIC, because, I’m direct, opinionated & a leader. Principal Joe Clark & even former Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, referred to themselves as such. In my opinion, that’s pretty good company to keep. Plus, it’s also a memorable name that’s easily recognizable.

Now, WTF is a Slipo?

Shamwow, I understand why you’re so upset with the world. It makes perfect sense. Your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory. Because, of you, they’ve included a label on the box with your picture along with the saying; “they can’t all be winners”.

Drop the stick and back slowly away from the horse carcass. Although, you win a few points for screen name originality, you end with a score of -1,000,000 for such blasphemy. I won the debate & I’m bored of you. So, piss off.

It’s a sad day in history of music when Simon Cowell can do a remake of a song called Everybody hurts by REM and it sounds better than the remake of We are the world.Which was was produced by a man who had more talent and understanding than any one in the music industry does dead or alive.
I shall taken another moment of silence for Michael Jackson.
RIP my brother for I know you can’t be sleeping well,if you are watching us on earth right now.

and another thing ppl who are upset with wycleffs part are the typical americans who never acter or undertsand a culture besdide there own. Haitians are very deep rooted in their african culture and heritage in that they still practice many songs sounds and rituals. so wen u may find he is sounding like a goat his Haitian ppl understand and appreciate adding their cultural sound to the song. i cant ever tell u how much i hate americans and their consistant disregard for other cultures beside their misguided own.
