Gabourey Sidibe Says She’s Over Not Being Featured On Vanity Fair’s Fresh Faces Of Hollywood Cover!

by admin on 02/18/2010 · 8 comments

Actress Gabourey Sidibe who stars in the Academy Award nominated movie Precious talks about not being included in Vanity Fair’s March 2010 issue cover (even though she had an interview) which featured up and coming young actresses in Hollywood.

“At first I thought, ‘Hmm, should I be there? Then I very quickly got over it. I think if I were a part of that shoot I would have felt a little left out anyway. Doesn’t matter, because I wasn’t on it and I’m excited to be mentioned anywhere, and it doesn’t matter to me where I’m not mentioned.”

Bish you are too FAT, THAT’s why you’re not on the cover. You ARE pretty but you are FAT FAT FAT. You ain’t lost one pound since you came on the scene. Where was you’re FAT ass gonna fit in the picture? I could see if they were doing a Star Wars theme and you could have been Jobba the Hut, surrounded by white skinny bitches, but they weren’t. I can’t even get into the race thing with this, because you are too FAT to begin with…..

PS. please down the smothered pork sandwich!

Umm, beyond harsh but when I remove the hostility, you’re right. Her size pigeonholes her as far as roles go and I’m not impressed that she doesn’t seem to get this. JHud was big and started losing weight the minute she saw she had a chance at continued stardom. Ricki Lake lost weight and kept it off and even Queen Latifah is large AND toned. Gabby has to take drastic measures because I’m tired of cringing every time I see her.

@Chun… your delivery is cold. but it’s true…

She talks like she should be part of the new hollywood. she did ‘one’ movie as far as I know, and that movie was a surprise success. Now she’s talking like she’s meghan fox or something. If i were her I would spend my money very very wisely. personally i think people are just humoring her right now with all the attention but nobody, I mean NOBODY, is building any hollywood vehicle around her… Hell, probably even if she lost weight!

She’s got a good attitude. I thinks she’s going to be great.

She can keep the weight and see SOME success, maybe. She definitely can’t do any Action roles. She could weight until she gets older and do BIG Mama roles, but then she’s competing with black men (hollywood execs seem to love to put a black man in a fat suit and have him parade around…smh).

I’ll give it to her, she is positive, and that’s great. However, the movie Precious still has a buzz right now. I’m more interested in what she has in the pipeline for work.

Double Edged Sword.

Stay Fat- Maintain celebrity. Fit the nitch of the ugly fat black girl and get booked for movies that require “ugly fat black girls.”

Lose weight- Loss of celebrity and become irrelavant.

I’m black and think this is the ugliest, blackest, bi$#@ I’ve ever seen! Her appearance is just off-putting, and you’re right, I think people pander to her about her looks. Yes, maybe so this “gorilla-in-a-dress” can act, but I sure I won’t see her in any huge production.
