G.M. was hoping to sell the Hummer brand to Chinese manufacturer company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Company for in a reported $150 Million Dollar deal.  After that deal fell through, the company decided to close Hummer altogether.  G.M’s vice president John Smith released the following statement:

“We have since considered a number of possibilities for Hummer along the way, and we are disappointed that the deal with Tengzhong could not be completed.  G.M. will now work closely with Hummer employees, dealers and suppliers to wind down the business in an orderly and responsible manner.”
