I don’t think Drake’s album is going to flop. He has a ton of credibility right now and everyone’s favorite rapper has co-signed him.

As for the song, I hate the intro and the chorus…but the verses go HARD!!

not overly impressed w/ the hook but it grew on me by the end of the song…i can see people rockin to it – especially the “who the f*ck is yalllll” part…only having two verses cheapens the effort of it all cause a 3rd verse of the same/higher caliber woulda cemented it as a really good song…he’ll definitely have to follow this up w/ some sort of collaboration joint tho to really get people in line to purchase ‘Thank Me Later.’ Either that or a stunning video or a collaboration on someone elses joint w/ like a remix of it on TML…this song alone won’t get me to NOT download the album/

Wow! All the hate is amazing. This is a hot track and hit track is predictable and the same as Wayne’s, but it always has been, so why are people just now waiting to jump off the bandwagon? This is his hottest track so far and his lyrics are funny and delivered with precision. I bet if Wayne or Jay or Kanye had come out with this everyone would be losing their minds and calling it a classic. Boi1da is a beast!

your wrong about that bro jayz is actually nice kanye would have been way more original and besides the incredible beat this song is corny …you give jay or kanye this beat i bet you you’ll feel different about drakes versus then he’s way to simple

I agree that Jay or Kanye would have killed this more than Drake, but I say still give the man his due.

Is it just me or does this kid sound like nobody else…..its kind of refreshing, not going to say it, but sort of like when College Dropout came out….just saying

Jerm 03/05/2010 at 4:49 PM

Just you. If you can’t hear Weezy and Kanye in this…then your ear for music is horrible. He need to stop attacking beats and learn to ride them.

He has his own sound. But that sound is basically a stripped down version of waynes flow. (I.e. a millie) . He’s a basic lyricist. Y’all just like him, not his talent. The new york street sound isn’t going over well anymore, despite the talent. The rapping talent is still mostly east cost. The producer talent is in the south. That’s what’s carrying the wocka flockas, mainos, gucci manes, roscoe dashes. you don’t have to be good at rapping to be successfull anymore.

Drake is alright. There’s just nothing else to measure him by. If he came out in the 90′s he’d be the 2nd or 3rd best guy on any label. But his competion is over 30 and have lost the ears of the fans or sound semi-retarded.(jeezy,maino,gucci,souljahboy,wockaflocka,etc). As a singer he has something. But that monotonous ramble flow got old real quick for me. He pretty much wayne without all the wackyness.

And the hook on “over” sounds kinda thrown together last minute. He has “changed the game” though. If you don’t use that flow in some way, you can’t sell right now. Almost won’t suck when the eminems and asher roths of the world take over and we forget who made rap along with jazz and rock.
