Phil Collins Talks About The Effects Of His Severe Nerve Damage

by admin on 03/27/2010 · 6 comments

Sad. Legendary musician Phil Collins tells Rolling Stone that despite working to finish off his new album of covers, the nerve damage he has suffered make it almost impossible for him to do anything with his hands.

“The first time I picked up the drum sticks after my neck surgery, they flew across the room because I couldn’t grip them.  When I play, I’ve had to tape the sticks to my hand. It’s like wearing a condom. It’s very strange. It really cramps your style. I can’t let go of the spoon or the knife when I eat.  I can’t open a car door. I won’t get gruesome with you, but there’s a lot of things I can’t do. I’m left handed. I’m having an operation soon and there’s a good chance of it improving over time.”

Hopefully with all Phil’s money and resources he can find a genius who can cure his condition, he’s only 59 and probably has a lot of classic work left to release.  If you’ve never REALLY seen Phil Collins on the drums watch the video after the jump and be blown away!!!!
