13-Year old Colin Carlson is a smart little trouble maker! First he stirred up trouble back in 2008 when campus officials debated whether it was safe for him to reside on the University Of Connecticut campus – without his mom – as a sophomore student. Now Colin is suing UCONN for age discrimination becaue the university is not allowing him to travel abroad to South Africa as part of a study abroad program, even if him mom chaperoned him.
“I’m losing time in my four-year plan for college. They’re upsetting the framework of one of my majors…” says Colin who currently has a 3.9 GPA and plans to have a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology and a degree in environmental law for a career in conservation science by the time he’s 22.
Carl Schlichting a former professor had this to say about the young prodigy, “he has very strong ideas about what he wants to do…his self-confidence is very high. It’s a very unusual package to see the intellect and confidence at that age.”
We love this little guy! But do you think he should be given the rights of a young adult just because he’s a genius??

Despite his age he seems to know exactly what he wants and how to go about it…so why not?
hmmm..the thing with these young geniuses is they tend to burn out later on…grow frustrated and its all downhill for them…

im a dutchy and I think alot of our european problems are because we DONT respect our rights
thats a nice title but Bill Gates was actually not so much genius as much as hard worker who worked on computers for like 10 years prior to going to harvard the starting microsoft. my money is this kids grows up to work for some corporation and nothing important
