Mary J. Blige Set To Talk About Her Charity FFAWN To Oprah

Mary J. Blige will be a featured guest on the Oprah’s couch tomorrow [Tuesday] and will be discussing her FFAWN organization (Foundation For The Advancement Of Women Now) whose goal is to empower and instill confidence in women.  The organization has major backing from designer Catherine Malandrino, Gucci and Carol’s Daughter – who will pledge 30% of their proceeds to FFAWN this Tuesday and Wednesday.  Founders Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute had this to say about the effort to the.LIFE Files:

“FFAWN to me isn’t a statistic, it isn’t a place, or a quick fix — FFAWN is freedom. Its everything you want but can’t understand or grasp. Its knowledge, resources, love, and family. I’m proud of what we’ve been able to do thus far but we want to do more. I want to send these women to college — these are bright girls with even brighter futures who don’t have the means. So I partnered with Carol’s Daughter to Be Beautiful & Give Back … On 4/13 and 4/14 they will donate 30% of all online sales to FFAWN to send these women to college.” – Mary J. Blige

“When you hear Mary sing, you identify with her pain and her struggle.  Mary is at a point where she has learned to climb out of the pain. Now, she is giving back to women who like her may find themselves unable to believe in their spirit any longer. The foundation is real – we touch women’s lives everyday – in our Yonkers center, through the programs, through our grants. This summer we are determined to send as many women to college as possible. Carol’s Daughter is taking that pledge with us.” – Steve Stoute
