Here is a clip of Academy Award winner Mo’Nique’s brother Gerald Imes admitting to Oprah Winfrey that he molested his sister when she was very young. Mo’Nique declined to appear on the show that also featured her mother and father who also spoke about the unfortunate incident on national television.
Should Mo’Nique’s family have gone on the air?

DISGUSTING MONSTER!
The fact that the parents sorta “allowed” this to go on speaks VOLUMES to me as to why Monique doesn’t deal with her family. If her OWN family didn’t hold him accoutable, why and how could she (back then)?!?! And she’s the victim! The PARENTS should have taken it further and really addressed this. I see this way too much in AA families. Instead of us speaking up and out (although it may hurt) we just sweep it under the rug. But that turns into a strained relationship, that could have been prevented HAD someone used their brains and said, “wait, although this is MY CHILD, he was WRONG and he needs HELP”. That’s terrible.
I WATCHED THIS SHOW & IT WAS VERY DISTURBING! MONIQUES BROTHER SHOULD HAVE BEEN MANDATED TO SEEK HELP FOR HIS ILLNESS! THE PARENTS SEEM TO BE IN DENIAL ALONG W/ MONIQUE’S OTHER BROTHER! NOT CRAZY ABOUT MONIQUE AS AN ACTRESS OR HOST BUT WATCHING THIS SHOW I HAVE A NEW FOUND RESPECT 4 HER. I WISH HER THE BEST IN HER EFFORTS TO MOVE FORWARD & SHE SHOULD CONTINUE THE NON-COMMUNICATION W/ HER FAMILY, THEIR USELESS IN HER ATTEMPT TO MOVE FORWARD. HER FAMILY SAID IN FRONT OF MILLIONS “WHEN DID HE (BROTHER) BECOME A MONSTER?” “IT’S NOT AS BAD AS EVERY1 THINKS” UNREAL!
I agree totally with Missy & Kiss. The show was literally an outrage and disturbing on so many levels. Her family made it crystal clear why she does not deal with them and she should continue the lack of communication until they get some pyschological help. I have soo much respect for Monique!!! As for her family, they are a hot mess!! And the brother is a Monster!! Thank God she had the courage to walk away from them.
He’s a sick monster! The family needs help as well.
