Do you agree with T.I.’s statement printed on the cover of the June/July XXL magazine cover?  He is the original King of the South!

Interesting… I suppose the fact that there is no official crowned “King” of southern Hip-Hop, anyone can proclaim themselves that if they so choose. If you look at actual numbers from the south however (which would validate royal Hip-Hop supremacy in my book) , Outkast clearly reigns supreme… but then you must must also consider other top southern sellers like Master P, Lil’ Wayne, Scarface, UGK, Ludacris, Jeezy, Three-Six… etc… Tip has only sold around 8 million records… liberally speaking… I say only, obviously he is a very popular, talented and marketable MC who is worthy of acclaim, and has every right to the self proclaimed title… but in all actuality… if he was adequately (statistically) challenged for the title… his claim may not be so easily validated. But if the man wants to be called “King of the South” for all superficial intents and purposes… so be it.

He’s actually the self proclaimed “Kang of the South”, so there really is no dispute here :)
