Actor Jason Mamoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Pipeline, Johnson Family Vacation) will play Conan The Barbarian in a new remake of the classic movie. Here is the first official photo from the flick.

210lbs and 6’5; which part screams barbarian? I’m not expecting a replica of Arnold but this man needs to hit a fitness facility to make the role more pronounced. If they have actors losing 40lbs for a role, why can’t they have someone gain muscle mass for a role Arnold brought to fame? If Hugh Jackman could become shredded for Logan, why does this man appear so scrawny?

To the contrary, you don’t need to be a woman to understand an actor suiting a role properly. I’m a fitness trainer leisurely (meaning it isn’t my field of career, I do it to help others who lack the knowledge to help themselves) and a role created by one of the world’s most known bodybuilder (barbaric role at that), should not be replaced by someone whose physical presence doesn’t at least draw a comparison.
I feel when you’re cast to a role, you must become that character to make it believable. Arnold was believable as a barbarian. Heath Ledger was believable as sinister villain. Curtis Jakson lost over 30 pounds to appear as a person sticken with cancer.
My question to you, asking for a character to gain more muscle mass for the role of Conan means I’m a female?

im a fan of the conan movies the first one was pretty good but im a hard critic when it comes to something like this,arnold did great ,he looks the part,but but what happend to belit she was way before valeria time line was off in first movie,second movie arnold looked great,as for everything else what happend,mako was a strong wizard in first movie,but the second they made him out to be rather boring,as for the other two sidekicks gimme a break, so as u can see i am looking forward to seeing what they do with this one. i really never heard of mamoa i hope he can somewhat come close to arnold,i was thinking more of dave batista (wwe wrestler)as more of the look as the new conan with a little airbrushing of the tats he would be perfect,if not get mamoa in gym ang gain about 30lbs of muscle,i hope he does a good job,like to see a movie that tells the story of conan and belit were they sail on the black coast she might die in end but at least it would open a doorway to many more adventures.
