Haha. When i posted this yesterday from The Wall Street Journal, you guys deleted the post and I said within the next few days or weeks you’ll be hearing about the news; interesting. Hahaha. I cAn imagine the 90+ million subscribers that will purchase this phone in January as I also mentioned in an old post in which a misinformed person refuted. Definitely a smart idea Jobs and I believe my girlfriend may want to switch to Verizon now

I may even switch to verizon… Depending on how much the plan will cost. My friend drops $160 a month with Cingular. There is NO way I am doing that, ill stick to Sprint and get the Evo if thats the case.

Well no wonder… Cingular went out of business years ago… they’re still paying old school cell phone prices… do they also use a motorola startac with that plan?

u guys really believe this?????
enough to post it??? ok…i respect life so….
even with the verizon is bashing the iphone subliminally with its android commericals!
even with the network being CDMA meaning u can only do voice or data one at a time. even with verizon and android making a tablet together!
even though apple HATES android cause its catching up (in some cases surpassing) the iphone. i mean lets be honest, the reason this iphone is so successful is because at&t let everybody upgrade early!
its doesnt matter. people like iphones, but they are beginning to love android. and for a platform thats JUST getting started, its gonna be a long ride iFanboys!

My friend has the iPhone 4 and said thus far he dislikes it and will eventually sell the phone online. I see the iPhone 4 and I envision such a total knock-off from Droid phones (physically). What does this tell us? Well my perception is that Apple although possessing a massive stronghold on marketing, noticed how the Android market seems to be increasing slightly and decided to utilize some of the physical features of the hardware.

With the conversion of the iPhone going CDMA and from the monthly pricing tentatively applied to the IPhone and Verizon, I think people will be more enticed to jump ship even if the phone isn’t as awesome as its marketing. Would I get the iPhone? No! Am I anti-Apple? I’ve had several iPods and is contemplating the iPad, so no.

Now, the only other thing that they have to do to put AT&T totally outta bizness is offer a cheaper data plan! Cuz this $150 a month that I’m paying is starting to get on my nerves.

MBA 06/30/2010 at 1:32 PM

Can you breakdown your plan for me because $150 per month is an unbelievable price for a phone’s plan? Also tell me what phone you have if you don’t mind.

Here’s the breakdown.. I have the iphone 3G
900 min plan = $59.99
7pm nights/wkends = $8.99
Unlimited Data Plan = $30.00
Unlimited media/texting = $20.00
Government Fees & Taxes = $13.68
Adjustments & other charges = $16.13
Total…..$148.79

That’s insane AT&T…seriously! I didn’t know there was a separate fee for unlimited media/texting and also the unlimited plan. No wonder i didn’t jump ship from T-mobile when the first iPhone launched because I can’t live without texting and if I did purchase the iPhone, I too would have the data and media/texting plan. I also consider it weird they still charge extra for the 7pm thing, especially on weekends. LAME AT&T. Sucks my friend…sucks indeed

Yikes!! Looks like I might need to cut back on eating out everyday and random shopping to make this work…. Verizon better make it do what it do.

CC 06/30/2010 at 1:48 PM

I would not buy one anyhow. Steve Jobs is as arrogant as they get.

Man I have worked for at&t and have had just about all of their phones..but you know what??? The NETWORK SUCKS ASS!! and They were talking all my food money! After another bad move to T-MOBILE. I now have the Droid!!! I live… for Verizon’s never dropped a Call Never network. And Droids 10000.000 running apps at one time never disappoints! iphone can keep at&t and Steve Jobs can keep the iphone with At&t!!

Your all crazy… I’m on a family plan, and my brother and I both have Iphones and we pay $60 a month… anyway… Verizon may have better service, but Iphone4 is great, I have it I love it, and I hope more people get it! Droid won’t last like blackberry and Iphone, because every company makes a droid, so when a good one comes out today by samsung and you buy it, motorola will release one 10x better next week making yours obselete, it’s too much competition, they’ll be a new Droid phone every week. It will saturate the market and kill itself. Blackberry and Iphone don’t have that problem that’s why they last so long!

dot cizzy how do you have 2 iphones on a plan and pay $60 dollars a month? the data for both of the phones comes out to $50. If you have the phones without a data plan, thats just useless

Reply

Yea Yea 06/30/2010 at 8:27 PM

I was told that the data plan is MANDATORY with all smart phones. Don’t know how true that is tho.

Reply

MBA 06/30/2010 at 9:23 PM

From my understanding if you have no usage for the data plan on the AT&T network, they can’t force you to have the plan if you were to for example purchase said phone from eBay or another outlet. But if you were to purchase the phone directly from AT&T to extend the contract, you’re “Required” to also attain the data plan. But if you don’t want it, they can’t force you to get it. But that’s hearsay from a few users

Here’s a direct description from AT&T’s disclaimer…

Data Plans: An eligible data plan is required for certain devices, including iPhones and other designated smartphones. Eligible data plans cover data usage in the U.S. and do not cover international data usage and charges. If it is determined that you are using an iPhone or other designated smartphone without an eligible data plan, AT&T reserves the right to add an eligible data plan to your account and bill you the appropriate monthly fee.

You silly Americans! dont get caught in the hype, in Canada when the iphone debuted it was only available @ one wireless company, rogers… then about a year later it was available at every wireless company, people thought that this would create competition and plan rates would drop….FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of these cell phone companies r in bed with one another and they alllllllllllllllllllllllll have the same dam plans, same rates, same EVERYTHING. my guess is when Verizon carries the iphone you’ll be surprised that the rates will stay the same. why would one company lower their rates when the iphone is in such strong demand? It makes NO sense business wise. Just sayin

Reply

Jamie 07/03/2010 at 2:52 AM

Um, Well i have the motorola droid and it does everything that the iphone does, minus the iphone 4 because I do not have the latest droid. I pay 90.00 a month for unlimited everything. Also, I can say I visited Dallas this week and lost my wallet and phone and they allowed me to do a emergency insurance claim and pick up a replacement phone in store same day. Now thats pretty incredible. Other carriers from experience dont care and send it out to you in the mail.
