Whoopi may know him personally and may feel he said those things in an angry moment or in private… It’s not like he was shouting this in public like ooohhh let’s say Kramer was on stage, or ohhh I dunno, on the Radio like Imus… I’m sure we all say things in an angry moment… and it’s not like he said blacks are nigger’s, he just said he hopes she’s raped by niggers, and can’t we all agree there really are some REAL niggers out there… I mean any black man that would RAPE a woman is most certainly a nigger… is he not?

Hey!Just correcting one thing…The “N” word were(still by haters) pronounced not only by American people.It’s even before the discover of “America”by Columbus Short…at the time when African people were used as slaves by everyone (not only whites).
A few decades ago “black” people were still legally treated different from “whites” like in USA and South Africa…This word represent all the hate.

I dont think she was defending him cuz clearly if people watched the show yesterday she did not defend or suggest his comments were ok. She sopke from a personal experience she had with the man which, led her to believe he was not a racist and if he so he’s clearly been fooling alot of people who consider him an acquaintance or friend.

She’s right, alot of us have made a so-called “racist” statement at some point in our lives. And she’s entitled to have whatever opinion she wants whether she has a personal relationship with him or not. I personally could give a damn about the guy.
Well let me cast the the first stone. I as a black/Asian man has never called a person a “n!gger”, “chink” nor “honkey” out of pure anger or frustration. Mel has in the past been caught on camera making racist rants about Jews and blacks for years now. Imagine what the public doesn’t hear off camera.

I’m not mad at Whoopie for not being upset at Mel. However, she can’t tell me not to be offended by his comments. I don’t care how many black friends he has or that he was secretly taped. It won’t change the fact that, in MY opinion, the real Mel Gibson has be revealed and I don’t like him. A Federal case doesn’t need to be made out it either. Apologies from him and insults from me are not necessary. I just won’t ever support any of his art ever again.
Whoopi has been in the game for more than a minute, so she knows first hand people will not always agree with what you say an then proceed to write letters or call her business office. She is entitled to her opinion an the viewing audience are entitled to theirs.
I think the African American see her as a sell out because she seems to date ( in her recent past) only white men, even though she says she has dated brothers also. Anyway – Mel was set up …but he seems like a mean so am so to be in a relationship with…bottom line i guess are words can come back to haunt us.
this whole drama makes me wonder how free is freedom of speach?- From Whoopi’s perspective…You can speak your mind certainly but then folks can then decide to punish you if they don’t like what you had to say.
Mel was easy to set up because Mel is a natural asshole. No one altered these tapes. These are his real raw emotions that he would’ve denied saying had he not been recorded.
Also, this is not the first time that Whoopie has sided with a white man on an offensive race issue. She left a bad tase in the mouths of a lot of African Americans after that black face skit that her then boyfirend Ted Danson pulled and her co-signing it. I personally don’t think she’s a sell out, but she hasn’t been a black fan favorite for a long time.
I’m another person that doesnt feel like mel is a racist! because i know in my everyday life I have and so many others at one point or another have said some rediculous racial remarks in the heat of anger or just describing a characteristic of a person is some type of way. YES i understand its not right but it happens. no one can tell me that they havent said anything negative about another race cause thats bullshit! you might not have been out right with it but u were thinking it! or it might not have been said in public but its been something said in your household! and thats the truth. honetly i feel like if he was talking about another race it wouldnt be that big of an issue but since he used the N word OMG! Afrian Americans need to get over it! and understand that negative sterotypes will always be around.. If he had balanced thinking he would say “you could get raped by a gang of men” the implication of N – - – - -, is that the word is attributed to the male gender of colour and that is what men of colour do according to him. This is a stereotype term created by the ignorant white half a brain cell settlers. We could also argue that she could get raped by a bunch of piss heads similar to the father of her last child. He isn’t rational and how sad to be him. In England he would be sectioned under the Mental Health Act and medicated and assessed. I would also like to make the comment directly back to Mel that if you add up all the rape victims throughout the whole world you will see that the offenders will be all different shades and nationalities.
