Wyclef For President?

by AdrienneJ on 07/27/2010 · 8 comments

WOW.. according to a newspaper in Canada singer Wyclef Jean may be considering a career at politics. Le Droit reported that Wyclef may be thinking about entering the presidential race in Haiti. Wyclef was quoted as saying “I can’t sing forever.” The presidential election in Haiti is November 28th. His foundation Yele has released the statement below:

“Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward. At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president.”

Whatever his decision may be we wish him luck!

FYI, his last name is Jean… not John. You guys have a pretty dope site but you make the dumbest spelling errors. The worst are the one’s you make with NAMES!
As for his candidacy, I hope it’s not true. He’s more effective outside of the system then he could ever be in it. We need someone else…

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t his charity being investigated for cheating the people of Haiti? Don’t they deserve someone who doesn’t come into office having already done them wrong?

Haiti just got its debt cleared by the IMF and billions are being injected into its “redevelopment”. The country now stands with a great chance of being transformed into a financially strong first world nation (country). That said, every opportunist and his momma are seriously considering having roles in the haitian government. Seriously, what the hell does Wyclef know about fiscal and economic development, dude couldn’t even manage the financial affairs of the fugees. Haiti does not need another unintelligent, opportunistic leader (baby doc, papa doc, aristide etc).

Not too sure about there being a great chance of being a developed (not first world) country. I agree that Haiti needs strong leadership now especially considering that their underdevelopment stems from corrupt politicians.

That country needs strong political leadership, from someone experienced in Government, not a pop star.
