According to CNN:
Two Georgia men have filed a lawsuit claiming that prominent Atlanta, Georgia, pastor Eddie Long coerced them into sex. The suits, filed Tuesday in DeKalb County, Georgia, allege that Long used his position as a spiritual authority and bishop to coerce young male members and employees of his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church into sex.
The pastor took one plaintiff, Anthony Flagg, 21, on overnight trips to a half-dozen American cities in recent years, Flagg’s suit alleges. “Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact,” the suit says.
Long took the other plaintiff, Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, to Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2008 for his 18th birthday and engaged in oral sex with him, Robinson’s suit alleges. Long frequently denounces homosexual behavior. A 2007 article in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s magazine called him “one of the most virulently homophobic black leaders in the religiously based anti-gay movement.”
The article goes on to say the pastor chose his favorite guys from his church to be “Spirtual Sons” which means he took them around the world on luxury trips and performed some sort of marriage-like ceremony with each of them.
We ask you LIFERS – how old can a child be before they can no longer be “taken advantage” of???

This is why all you “Down Low” Niggers are giving these black bitches AIDS….. Well I guess it’s all coming full circle, it all started with some Gorilla in Africa anyway”’ LOL
AIDS was developed by gays you jackass!
Anyone can get AIDS. Has nothing to do with your sexual orientation.
You’re just a homophobic muthafucker. You’re probably gay yourself just like Eddie Long.

@ Anti-believer… HAHAHAHAH….YOU MAD….YOU MAD…TELL’EM WHY YOU MAD AND GAY SON….LOL
We will see if this is true when the dust clears. I don’t see how you get coerced into that stuff by anyone when you are 18 years old. But we shall see…
Eddie Wrong.
they were all into it obviously… at that age you’re down for it, not abused. more mega church blues…
They always try put Men/Women of God names in the mud so Ima need to hear more to if this is true also if your a man how can you let another man coerced you into sex? Not saying it can’t happen but come on!
the only reason why this is such big news is because this pastor has been called the most anti gay rights black leader. he has done marches, protests, speeches and done many other things denouncing and condemning the gay community. he has preached that God is the way to deliver the “gays.” it really has nothing to do with race. we as people need to start seeing past color and start judging people by their acts.
i mean it really has nothing to do with men and women of God. it has to do with him allegedly being an hypocrite. (my boss started to talk to me and i forgot what you wrote lol. i brought in race… my mistake ”/ )
I was like race? lol
But your right the minute you express your (negative) opinions on homosexuality be prepared to be exiled
Everybody is looking for a payday. According to their state law the sex seems like it was consentual so the accusers should not be awarded one red dime. However, Bishop Long should be booted from his position in the church.
how about how old can anyone be?
At this point, these are only allegations. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? If more evidence emerges to support the “victims” claims, then we would be more inclined to make a well informed judgment.
However, I believe that by the age of 20, you’re definitely past the age of consent. If they didn’t want to “allegedly” participate in any sexual activities, then I’m certain that they could’ve denied his “alleged” advances.
Furthermore, if their claims are proven to be untrue, then they should be charged with slander/defamation of character. These allegations would be devastating for the average person, let alone for someone who acts in a Pastoral capacity… especially for a person who is known to denounce and condemn that lifestyle.
But, if Bishop Long is found guilty, after being given a fair trial, then he should definitely step down from his position immediately. Along with numerous Catholic Priests that have been charged with similar crimes.
consider if you are a poor young man and someone is offering money, a lavish life style, access to celebrities and politicians, trips overseas, cars, a home for you and your family and a steady check and in return all you have to do is become his “spiritual son” would you not feel coerced into making the decision to please him while he provides for you and your family?
and its not prostitution because you weren’t offering any services. you were approached and offered terms under the veil of “i’m a pastor, trust me”
You make a strong case — I see your point. But, in my opinion, they should’ve “blown the whistle” instead of him, if they intended on filing a suit against him for suggesting that they commit those acts… allegedly.
Religious people are such hypocrites!
there a lot of guys who don’t consider themselves gay but will have sex for cash with other guys…who knows if any of this is true…the black church needs to grow up already, what folks do sexually no bodies business, if folks would pay attention to what they have control over ( themselves) the world would be a more enjoyable place… christians can be so self righteous
Gotta disagree, True followers of Jesus have a responsibilty to spread the word of God. Whether society agrees or not. I for one do not plan to stand in front of God saying “Well God i wanted to tell the people about you but i didn’t want the world to hate me”. God said once you are a true believer the world will hate you, but to remember it hated Him first.
Also, we have to remember that just because someone says they are a Chrisitian does not mean that they are one. Look at their actions.
jesus said to love others. he also said the battle is not yours. its not your job to bible thumb. its your job to love your neighbor. it was in the original commandments and the message carried on through out the teachings of jesus.
i agree with g. its esp true in black churches. stop focusing on homosexuality and focus on helping others form a personal relationship with god. it’s his battle. not yours.
i’m tired of this we’re responsible, we’re gods soldiers argument already. he has a host of angels. he needs your love and your support. not your swords and condemnation. TRUTH
FALSE When He said the battle wasn’t yours he didn’t mean it the way you think. And it isOUR responisbilty to love and love yes in the meaning of helping your fellow man etc. it also means when you see your fellow brother making a mistake you redirect them back unto the right path. You judge the sin NOT the sinner.
As part of the body of Christ we are his soldiers so to speak. Our job isnt to condemn others but to lead them to Christ in a loving way. Whatever goes against God’s will and word we should speak out againt. but we also have to remember actions speak louder than words.
he meant it in everyway. the battle is not yours. what do you think revelations was all about. the final battle. it doesnt say he takes humans and puts them on the front line. he meant all burdens is not yours including the burden of the world.
the first part of the second paragraph is true. the second sentence is false. very rarely did jesus step into a place and tell someone right out that they are wrong, they are going to hell.
and your last sentence is def true. actions do speak louder than words. if this pastor would have taught to love the gay man his name probably wont be in the dirt today.
Actually we are on the front line for Jesus. He says that we will be persecuted, hated etc… People love to think that because they are Chrisitans that all they have to do now it sit back and wait for him to return.
No where in the Bible does it say that. We are out there working for Him having to be willing to die for Him if it comes to that. (If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. Matt.10:39)
Jesus didnt play ,many times he told people about themselves. I am not saying look down on people or act like your better than them but wrong is wrong. You either belive what God says is true or you dont. You can pick and choose.
And the ending times are here so you (me) better be willing to go to battle for the Lord, with His and strength of course.
you can love gay men and women but dont condone the sin. Homosexuality is wrong but everyone deals with something it may be drugs, fornication etc… But wrong is wrong is wrong
*can’t pick and choose
charlie i don’t know where you live, but your average christian is human …liable to judge, lie, cheat,be selfish an on an on…were all just human beings trying todo the best we can…for mean christianity is not the faith of our ancestors.., those of us who are by products of the trans-atlantic slave trade…the with man brought jesus to usalong with chains an whips…i do find some of the philosophy of the christian faith to be wonderful…
So are you saying you don’t believe in Jesus? not sure what your trying to say here.
Yes, we all make mistakes but we need to make we do not willfully sin and think “Oh God will forgive me” God accepts us as we are but He doesn’t want us to say the same.
@chun-Your racist comments fascinate me. I commend you for having the guts to verbalize what we suspect are the views of all Caucasians.
I am symptathetic to the members of Bishop Long’s congregation. They must feel incredibly cheated.
hey im white and that dude chun is one low life ignorant foll who has nothing better to do than go on lifefiles and make ignorant, racist statements.
