There is RIM’s BlackPad tablet device to the left which should be unveiled in a few days and hit stores this Holiday season. According to the NY Post:
The Canadian company will unveil a new tablet computer, dubbed the “BlackPad,” that’s slated to hit stores in time for the holidays, the Wall Street Journal reported.
With a screen that measures just 7 inches — nearly 3 inches narrower than the iPad’s — the BlackPad evidently will bank on portability rather than splashy graphics. Likewise, RIM’s new device must be hooked up to a BlackBerry in order to access cellular networks.
While that could paint an inelegant picture for many iPad users, it’s also a signal that RIM initially will market the device to its own core customers. The BlackPad reportedly will sport as many as two cameras, with one pointed at the user for videoconferencing.
Who’s Buying????

Another way for you to lose all of your contacts! Droid users like myself don’t have that issue! Is android coming out with a pad as well?
where u from @jamila
Blackberry is a dinosaur compared to Apple (im a Windows 7 and iPhone fan)
is it me???? cause i believe all this companies are following apple instead of leading,,,,,apple is the trendsetter while all these others playing catch up,,,, i thought the kindle already beat the ipad,,,,,am i wrong? by the time this is released apple will already have another one to lead us into the new year,,,,, this comin from someone who don’t own an apple product but is steadily watching the tech race
You’re absolutely right.
anyone remember the good old days BEFORE everybody was comparing their shit to apple products for validation?
I want to get a new pair of shoes this weekend, but I feel compelled to find some market research on why Air Jordan’s are better than just strapping a couple of I-Pads to my feet for more support…
2nd @brave, stop with the comparisons for fucksake… stand on your own 2.
these companies have to ride apple’s coat tails they’re the shit!!!
Apple has always been a brand that is synonymous with cutting edge designs and technology. The competition is clearly far behind & has to wait for Apple to develop products first so they can hop on the band wagon and try to do it better.
it hasn’t always been this bad though. since the i-pod, we’ve been treated to nothing but a big game of “get like me” courtesy of Bill Gates long lost, less rich, more artsy fartsy, evil twin Steve Jobs.
It’s not about who does it first, it’s who does it better.
