Reggae star Buju Banton is not off the hook yet as jurors failed to determine if he attempted to negotiate a deal to buy drugs. Banton who took the trial during the stand says he was only purchasing the drugs because he was trying to impress his friend (the government informant) who he thought had connections in the music industry. If convicted the Reggae star was facing LIFE – no Files. According to the Jamaican Observer:
The jurors in the Buju Banton trial have just told US Judge Jim Moody that they have failed to come to a unanimous decision despite almost three days of deliberations. A new trial date is to be set and will be announced today. Banton’s lawyer David Markus has applied for bail for his client and the judge is expected to address the application later today.
